Faenon Bloodmane (WIP)

Recommended Posts

I had mentioned in a previous post asking if people had a specific process or steps they used when painting models.  One of the themes I noticed from several was working from the smallest part out, and even from the face out.  It was mentioned that it makes the model more "alive" to start with the face.  So, today I did just that.  I have to say, I feel like I know where I am going now with this piece.  Almost like the little guy is talking to me.  I am painting this one as a character for my D&D game, and seeing his face is helping me visualize more easily where I want the finished product to be.

One of the effects I am going to attempt with this model is glowing.  I have the eyes solid green, with pale green iris.  Its hard to see in this picture, but the end result is going to be the various runes glowing similar green, as if he is casting a spell.  After a quick hit with a clear coat, I am going to try to wash in some lighter green around the eyes to give it a cascade effect.  Any suggestions would be helpful!

Thanks!

So far so good. Your skin tone is very nice, the beard as well. I'll just be over here munching on some popcorn, carry on.

Oh an update. I like this update, well done!

Here is with the armor wash started, and some of the details started.  I think I am going to scrap the idea of the glow for the time being.  Maybe work up to it on a monster piece, or something that I am not going to be using in games on a regular basis.  At any rate, here here is Faenon with his coldsteel hammer started and some other bits begun.  Moving closer and closer to a finsihed product.  I would be done by now if I hadnt had to let Real Life get in the way. lol

      Hi Guys,

another old classic from Julie Guthrie, part of a set she put out for Ral Partha in the eighties, Female Adventurers, which I imagine was their answer to the Grenadier boxed set that was also full of delightful adventuring ladies.

This figure is a little nostalgic, because she's actually lead, back from the eighties, not version cast later in Rallidium.

And as always, wasn't sure on a color for her clothing. I had the hair and skin pretty much figured out, but once I got to that point, it took a day or two to actually commit.

Anyhow, hope you enjoy, a great figure from the early sculpting days of Julie Guthrie!

This is a Dwarf Lord Ragmir by Scibor monstrous miniatures, I got this for my nephew awhile back and just finished it. This thing had a lot of good details, and a cool base even if it was a little small, which is no longer an issue since I just mounted him on his stock base and then a metal knockout from an electrical box.

      Thanks for looking!

This lil guy had been sitting on my shelf for a while. Decided to tint some metallic w blue paint for his armor. Pretty happy how it turned out. As always, feedback is welcome

So, I just had to show off this pic.  I'm playing in a 5e Rappan Athuk campaign, and needed to make 3 characters.  I chose to model mine after the characters from the old Lost Vikings video game.

In order from left to right:
Olaf the Stout, Life Domain Cleric.
Baelog the Fierce, Totem Warrior Barbarian.
Erik the Swift, Battlenaster Fighter (my main).

Sorry, I just really loved this picture.
