Not even close to Chicago, but they are much bigger than Happy Seppuku, and - depending a bit on the pad - a lot of variety with awesome detail. Yeah, they are (with shipping) quite expensive, but I feel even this offer is worth it if you are going to use the pad often (i.e. if you base a lot of models and want to use such pads a lot).

I think I'm gonna have to pass on this. :( just not in the stars.

...unless I can talk the Hubs into it!!

but probably not. They still don't have a store, right? This is the only way to get them?

Correct. No store. Only way to get them for now is thru kickstarter. They'll also do a Basius 3 upcoming if 2.5 isn't doable.

I just don't think I'd get the mileage out of them.

This is part of my concern as well. If I had someone to share bases/pads/something with it might be worth it. At this point though, I feel like I could save money by buying the MicroArtStudio or secret weapon bases. I understand the point of the Basius, just not sure if they're gonna be the savior I think they will be.

I will probably painting and basing minis for years to come ... so I will get to use the Basius pads for years. Even if I don't use them enough to justify the expense THIS year ... there is a next year ... and a next one.

This is my thought.

Seems fitting for the house I belong to.

Depending on the style that you like, Happy Seppuku may also have something similar. Or, if you are interested in flagstone or brick type patterns, you could go Jim Wappel's route and bake sheets of Sculpey and then carve them.

I happen to like the Basius stamps very much, and I talked myself into getting more. But, then again, I can afford some extravagances as long as I resist the siren song of others. ::):

I'm picking up a couple that I decided that I want after passing on them last time (Deadzone and Homestead) and am torn on the third.

truth!

But I have mine and all I am ever going to use.  I will say that i hope for others that in basius 3 they bring in the desert island mold.  I get a lot of use out of that from my discounted B1 pads
