Wowww! I love all of this! I especially love the KDM dude's initial color blocking - that's incredibly close to the Borderlands/Codehunters-style art that I've been wanting to try! It will be a great reference ::):

And all the skin colors and blending on that bust...  :wow: That's amazing!

Pretty!  And a cool way to build your layers!  I love the textures- did you get the stippling effect with spray primer?

I'm still trying to figure out how I like to paint, so I keep changing what I do :) I wish I could find a comfort zone! The initial stippling was zenithal prime with spray cans, still mostly visible on the shoulder blanket thingy. I re-did all the texturing for the undershirt and leather because I painted over it, not thinking ahead. I'm poaching lots of ideas from the mighty Ben Komets on this one, his Shieldmaiden vids. Not entirely applicable, since the male is harsher shading; taking a lot of inspiration from Euro guys like JBT, looking at finished busts and historical stuff. So much great stuff out there!

Cool! That was a fun experiment with Zachary, I want to explore that style more. Really wish I lived in Europe so I could study under Alfonso Giraldes!

And that blending...it's really awful :p I had to draw a line in the sand and stop messing with it. Another reason I keep trying new ways of painting, I need to improve so much. A lot of it is time put in, but I often hit a wall where my fixes cause other problems, fixing those cause other problems, and it just keeps circling around until I call it done :)

Just thought I'd chime in, great work as usual.

Thanks for chiming in (and you, too, ub3r; even if I didn't quote ya!)! I feast on adoration live for praise am always humbled that people enjoy my work and nice words help keep me motivated! I like hearing what other people think, after a while it's tough to be objective after looking at the same mini for so many hours!

You did such a nice job with his eyes, his expression and his face overall look very lifelike. :) I also love what you did on his armor, it looks fantastic! Nicely done on the glazing there!

It wasn't until I saw your latest pictures that I realized what was bugging me about his cheeks. Up until you started working on his armor, they were the darkest areas visible from the front, so they kept drawing my attention. Now that the clothes have some color on them, his face looks a lot more natural to me. :D I'm learning things too!

Keep going! I'm super excited to see him all finished up! ::D:

Huzzah!

Some more glazing on leather, then rough base coat for the cloth. Not super happy with the inks on the leather, besides the amount of gloss it is going to take a lot more finesse to highlight and weather vs if I had just layered it normally (I really like how the straps and scabbard on Rollo came out, for instance). I've been struggling to make good leather for a long time!

Really bombed the attempt to texture the cloth :( Stipple fail. I might just go back to the drawing board on it, kinda sucked out my mojo so close to the goal line!

I've prepped and primed a couple Reaper single piece minis for some change of pace stuff when he's done.

Great job I really like your William Wallace. Sorry to hear about the foot I know this is late coming I just joined this forum and found your post today. A far as the keeping your foot elevated I am disabled and can't sit in a desk chair for very long so I built a desk that goes over my recliner and am able to keep my feet raised up.
