These are two pictures I took for reference from a preserve (I forget the name of sorry!) here in GA - and yes, those lumps in the water are alligators. The green on the top of the water is algae growing and it's quite quite bright green which I thought was just plain awesome (hence the pictures)

I spotted a couple more atmospheric photos on the Wyrd Forum:





...the last one I find especially inspiring...of course, I am a bit strange.

That last one looks like an abandoned amusement park to me.

Goblin Valley State Park, Utah (seen as the planet of the rocks in Galaxy Quest):





Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks NM, New Mexico (between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, behind Cochiti Pueblo):





And The Wave (Paria Canyons/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, AZ. You have to win a lottery to get a hiking permit, which I've never done.)
