CMON - The Others 7 sins

I love the sculpts, I just wish they hadn't tacked on the 7 Deadly idea, I think "The Others" implies extra dimensional beings trying to take over this space... not personification of corruption from within.

I would have had no problem with the art, if they were naming it sloth and etc. So if they had wanted to set up the battle of good and evil between FAITH and SIN, I would have liked enemies and heroes to more embody that idea. (A vampire with FAITH? for example)

But hey, what do I know?

Hmm yeah I like the 4 horsemen and apocalypse box addon is there a way to just buy that without the whole game? I have no interest in this game at all, I just want those 4 horsemen as bosses for zombicide.

Wait until retail. You won't get the KS hero exclusives, but will save on postage (assuming you buy from an OLGS and reach their free shipping threshold) and may buy it on sale at a better price.

I'm wondering if you can use these horsemen for Defenders of the Realm, and Apocalypse for Cthulhu War's Gobodebeg (sp)!

Only Avatar of Apocalypse I do not like is Famine.

I would have preferred the Avatars on horses, or better some kind of mount.

About pestilence it is little sad that it is only one aspect of the Avatar. Plague is normally a better name, because it meants pestilence and swarms of insects, animals. Would be cool if a addon would add a animal plague avatar.

Also new more modern versions of the 4 riders would be cool. Avatar of Pollution for example.

The aesthetics of this game definitely seem like two (or three?) different project ideas that got mushed together.

I also had a lot of trouble figuring out how the big monsters are supposed to represent the sins.

I eventually concluded that the thinking was thusly:

Pride is all boastful and puffed up like a puffer fish, showing off his tentacles.

Sloth is sort of snail like and lazy-looking.

Greed has a big hungry mouth.

Lust has distended mammaries.

Envy,,, uuhhh ,,, envy ... envy is envious of the other monsters that kind of look like what they represent.

Not sure what the point of the game is if you aren't going to get all seven sins and it's called seven sins.

When I saw the previews I genuinely thought that I'd be going all in on this one but just about every single reveal has decreased my interest. Even the ones I do like lack a cohesive concept across the range.

Normally I'm ok with monsters that look like a zoo has been turned inside out and stapled together but it's just not working here for me for some reason.

Some of the hero miniatures just look really bad to me as well. I'm guessing they are using the word Sniper to mean anyone with a large ranged weapon as well because Grenade Launchers and Miniguns aren't traditionally considered sniping weapons.

Well I'm in Canada, so it's cheaper to go with CMON I find. Except our dollar is crap at the moment and that's keeping me from backing right now. Having to pay 25% more sucks. CMON always opens the PM for public for months after and maybe if I wait the dollar will improve.

I'm actually thinking I might pick up the whole thing, keep what I want and sell off the rest individually. Anybody had luck doing that with other kickstarters? I might be able to make back some or most of the money I spend too.

I think that summed up my thoughts, as well:  the creatures have a very Cthulhu-esque "things beyond time and space" feel; that's neat, but it really doesn't go with the whole "seven sins" concept.

I for one, actually like the tentacular art direction here. I find the nonconventional depiction of the cardinal sins to be refreshing. I am glad they had the guts to do their own thing and not just fulfil everybodies preconceptions of what, say, a lust demon should look like.

If it's tentacles, doesn't automagically mean it's Cthulhu. I'm getting more of a survival horror / nightmare vibe from the mini's.

The Apocalypse expansion is great -- even the mini's fit the theme.

*This* is Cthulhu! : https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CAcQjRxqFQoTCLiDmMHtn8gCFYlOkgodc5kCoA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwanderingdragon.com%2F2015%2F03%2F26%2Fcthulhu-wars%2F&psig=AFQjCNGEFKLujKVAwAunbmxQkR7h7wcJ8Q&ust=1443740173837311

For my part, it's not the tentacles so much as the "alien weirdness".  Also, that's why I used the phrase "Cthulhu-esque", as I'm referring to the feel of the mythos more so than specific references to it.  The Others is very much embracing a similar concept of "alien entities beyond the ken of mortals" as that of the Cthulhu mythos.

I'm a bit torn. The game is not for me and I also can't use modern day miniatures, so I'm not backing. Some of the monsters look awesome and while I'd have imagined the 7Sins differently, I can appreciate that they wanted to do something differently. On the other hand, taken all monsters together, it gets a bit much with all the extra mouths and tentacles.  I might pick up a couple of the miniatures retail (especially that last add-on).

I have to say, I think the monsters would be a lot of fun to paint in a super-nasty style.  Lots of opportunity for wet blending, washes, and strange color palettes.

I dunno man, some of them look downright nightmareish to paint. I mean look at Envy Avatar, you'd have to bust it apart to get to the inside to paint it, smae with the Aboms I think. Sloth Avatar/Aboms would be difficult too, and as much as I like the Apopcalypse creature, painting it is going to test my patience.

Maybe; I think that depends on how flexible the plastic "teeth" are on the Avatar of Envy.  Barring that, heavy use of washes splatted into there should suffice.
