claymoore
Is that the one for metal or plastic as opposed to Mr Metal Primer? Tell us with a review if possible.
Neyuttad
It says "For Plastic & Metal"
Neyuttad
Well first look at the result, the thing is smooth, really smooth. Way smoother then Krylon. The can sprays a mist, not a jet, the paint seems to flow gently and settle on the mini and not splash on it like Krylon etc. I spray very economically; that is I put the mini in front of the nozzle, about 5 inches away and quicky press the trigger. No pass here. Something I heard you shouldn't do with regular spray paints. But with Tamiya, no drips. It's expensive, $6.99, the can was 5 years old (1999) but i'm happy with the results. It's as smooth as my airbrush but i've been told that primer are more durable than regular paints so i might use it. Oh and it doesn't smell too badly (if I hold my breath and gasp once in awhile, duh) I didn't paint the mini yet so I do not know how paints go over the primer coat. Maybe somebody can give an opinion on that as i don't feel like painting for a while due to incoming schoolwork approaching at dangerous speed

Christopher777
If only they had it in black and grey. They have a grey Primer that isnt fine. It seems slightly more gritty. Bu less Gritty than stuff like Krylon or GW Anyone care to comment on the grey ?
haldir
Tamiya makes a fine product, I use alot of their stuff in my modelling hobby, spraycans, tapes, scissors, putties. Great stuff, never have tried the grey primer, as I get dang good results from Duplicolor & I don't dare use other primers (thou I did spray Deathsleet with the Tamiya white thou) Randy M
rusticfire
Where can you get this stuff? I need some new primer and if its only 6.99 then it's still cheaper then the GW stuff I have been using.
Mengu
I've been using Tamiya too, and am fairly happy with the results. Very fine indeed. I still spray at about 1 foot, and I do multiple passes at different angles. I also usually touch up with brush on primer.

I got mine for $5.99 from a local model train/car hobby shop.

Kelcore
I just bought a can of this stuff and used it today. I'm sold. Great coverage, and no detail lost at all. This stuff definately rocks. My only complaint is that it dosen't come in a bigger can and that it reeks to high heaven. Though not as bad as Testors Dullcoat.
Cerridwyn1st
Where can you get this stuff? I need some new primer and if its only 6.99 then it's still cheaper then the GW stuff I have been using. Hey, that $6.99 can is HALF the size of a GW can, so it is hardly cheaper. Since they sell for the same price, the Tamiya is actually twice as expensive. HOWEVER - this stuff is great. Smooth as glass, doesn't run, isn't gritty, doesn't obsure details, covers beautifully, doesn't rup off high points like Vallejo paint on primer will - I love the stuff. What I will do is put my minis on a Lazy Susan and spin as I spray. Nice smooth coat, first shot. Then I touch up any "missed spots" with Vallejo primer. The Vallejo is great for getting the recesses, it just isn't so good for spots likely to be rubbed as you paint. One warning - if your paint is very thin, it will slide around on the surface of the primer like water on a waxed car. Once you get a layer of paint on, though, you can use paint as thin as you like and it won't matter. Yes, it is expensive. But what REALLY is the most expensive component of your painting? Your own time, that's what. Or it is for me. And if I have to mess around trying to get the stuff to go on right, or shaking the can for 5 minutes, or spraying multiple coats, etc., then there isn't much savings using something cheaper. I could have spent the time painting, for crying out loud.
