Savage Coyote
With the book being out for awhile, I've managed to play two "demo" games against myself, running to Mastergunz for rules clarifications and making sure I'm doing it right. It has been interesting and I can see the depth in the game even for the speed of it. I've been impressed so far but I couldn't help notice there isn't a lot of traffic here discussing things that gamers discuss, like factions (specialities, doctrines, force selection etc,) tactics, or painting (at least inside these forums... I can't find CAV stuff easily in the main painting areas!) Maybe everyone, like me, is waiting for Wave 2 or the game just hasn't taken off yet. I don't know, but I'm pretty excited to see this thing take off. Or to maybe play another person!
Maredudd
I've played the one game with thatdeadguy I reported on elsewhere here in the forum and havn't had the chance to get back up to S Daytona, but I know he has played lots of games. It'll likely be another week or two before I'm free to play again.
PatrickK
I was very busy the last weeks. But I hope I can set up the big terrain table in the next weeks again. I read the rulebook though.
ThatDeadGuy
I have had a few sessions with a couple of my crew - totaling about a dozen games played. We are in Central Florida - South Daytona specifically.
Reaper User CAVBOSS Posted September 23, 2015 Reaper User Share Posted September 23, 2015 While we have released the book through the website, our big CAV push wont really come till next year. Once we have the plastic CAVs in hand it will make it much easier to introduce new players to the game instead of trying to get them to buy $20 metal figs right out of the gate. We are on the tail end of con season and the main retail show isn't until March next year so right now we are concentrating on our base and building from there. With that being said, we sold a lot of books over the last month. I think a lot of people are waiting for the rest of the plastic bones to really get into it and we should see a sizable traffic increase after they ship. What else is in the pipeline? We are finishing up the first release in our new Flashpoint series which will introduce you to hotspots around the galaxy in the current timeline. This series will be a full color pdf and the first one will be free for players to download. It includes lots of new background info, new units, new models and as much stuff as we can jam in there along with a series of scenarios that we will add to as the timeline in game progresses. Journal of Recognitions We are updating these and including new models as well. These will be full color printed books and as we get closer to being finished I will update the release date on them. CAVCON 2016 May 27-29, 2016 We will be hosting or first all CAV convention the last weekend of May in 2016 at the Reaper factory in Denton TX. More info to come as we finish up planning for it. COG Once we have the plastic minis in hand, we will start turning these guys loose on the world! SO stick in there, Rome wasn't built in a day! We are committed to this game and wont let up!
Savage Coyote
Thanks Jon! I'm sitting here getting excited and impatient. I know things take time, but it doesn't mean I have to like waiting! I have to see people play so I can live through them, at least for the moment. I will try to make CAVCon as I live east of Denton. Only about sixteen miles away. I've been buying metal CAV stuff for my Templars from the Internet portion of the story when I visit; well the 15 and under stuff because I won't pay more than that. Like I said, impatient!
Storm_Bringer
I've been mostly painting in my (limited) spare time. I've been reading the rulebook and will probably try a solo game to get a feel for the mechanics of it all. I've also been playing with the Force Manager. I really like it. I may another local player that would be interested. We've played a number games together including AlphaStrike. SB

Pegazus
Aw, man! I just noticed the CAVCon date. Same weekend as I just made plans for. Sadly, they aren't flexible. Bummer.
PatrickK
I have been in Dallas already but €900 for a weekend of CAV is too much. For my wife of course. Reasonable for me. If I had something to say...

I doubt my wife would let me go every day as she's jealous with her weekend and it's the end of school. I'm sure I can do Saturday no problem though! Vil-hatarn
I'm working on an enhanced version of the CAV 2 rules based on some playtesting ideas that never made it into the game; does that count?
mercoutlaw
Not me. I cannot support the current incarnation with the blatant disrespect by the current designers. Completely ignored any acknowledgement of any of the people who created the game, the universe and the original CAV designs. It's disgraceful and indicative of the current design team and will not get any support from me. This will probably get removed and that's fine with me. Jim, John, and the myriad of others that made CAV a reality deserve more respect. Atrocious business practice.
