Eldar Corsair project (pics, pics, oh Dog the pics)

Recommended Posts

I have a ridiculously long running project that I work on when I have the whim.  I have been using Eldar guardian arms, weapons, and helmets with the old jetbike rider leather jacket torso and high elf archer legs to create Eldar Corsairs.  I'm hoping that starting a thread will motivate me to get back to this but if nothing else I'm pretty happy with the conversions so at least others can see them.  Here's the first batch of pics (this is the ones I happen to already have pictures for).

Ah, yer a elf after me own heart and it does me a world o' good to see yer conversions. :)  I really do love them.  I have a good number of the old eldar and some of them are funky, but I still love them.  I'll be following your thread here with much interest.  I'm also loving your greenstuff work.

Thanks!  I was inspired by that old kill team article from white dwarf that had corsairs converted from a mix of Eldar and High Elves.  I went a bit more regular than they did.  It's pretty amazing  how well the High elf Archer legs work with those bike rider torsos.

Oh, also probably not going to take a photo of all of them as I think that even though each is different, a lot of them aren't different enough to have every one pictured.

I decided I wanted one of those fancy Warlock Wraithlords like Forgeworld but wasn't going to pay their prices for something I can kitbash.  Here's where we are so far with that:

Can't very well do Eldritch Raiders and without Prince Yriel.  Of course I couldn't just build him as is...

Cool conversions ( you're in the right House allright)

They look great.

*** when they're done, serve them on a silver platter, my Chaos Lord wants to dine in style this time***

Stop making me like Eldar again. STOP IT.

I'll see what I can do about that.

On a different note, I will be using two Bonesinger miniatures that were put out as a limited edition in place of the official Spirit Seer miniature, one converted and one in original condition.

Presenting Cypher, a character from Games Workshops Warhammer 40k range.
My version is a mysterious and legendary Space Knight recognisable from the giant sword he carries but never uses, while he normally lives a hermit-like existence on the various, isolated outer worlds, he will occasionally pledge his services to a quest or expedition in exchange for transport off world.

Really surprised I got this one finished, he's been on my desk well past the point where I normally get fed up of looking at things, and he's not a mini I'm that interested in (I basically really like his sword scabbard).
That he turned out okay too is just a bonus.

As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

I wasn't planning on ever doing any more Work In Progress threads (The number of threads I've abandoned outnumber my finished threads by a pretty ridiculous amount at this point), but I'm trying to get back into the habit of painting every day and my brain is being a real jerk about it (he'd be a lot happier if I gave up on this whole painting nonsense and just stared mindlessly at a screen all day).
So the idea is if I post an update a day, regardless of how much progress I've made, I'll shame myself into making sure I've done enough for a worthwhile update or something.

      Day 1 (Which was yesterday):-

The King and his Seahorse have been undercoated, washed and I've started on the base, I got part way through applying the pumice paste before I realised I couldn't get to the middle without getting it all over the Seahorses tail/tentacles/tail-acles?
Today I want to try and finish the base, and maybe start on the Seahorse.

The last of the drow I chosen to try to do this month. Again wanted to try different things, i.e. hair color, etc. different colors to see how they work. And here I went with the usual red clothing thinking it'll help the contrast of the green.

I painted up some of Games Workshops' Namarti Reavers in a more wood-elf looking scheme. I plan to have them running alongside some deer as part of my 'animal friends' project. Just starting work on the deer, and very happy with the archers!

So this is the first time I tried painting freehand on the shield  This is the end result of the conversion:

And for the conversion part, I didn't like neither this minis pose, nor its weapon choice (pickaxe really???), nor its commie looking (???) sigil on the shield. So I removed the weapon and sanded the shield. I also think that his pose looks a lot more natural as a spear throw than a pickaxe swing.. Also gave him some simple terrain and a quick paint  Thanks for looking!
