Jasper_the_2nd
I've been playing a few skirmish (500 points) games of Star Wars Legion with my wife to try to keep up on the rules. Here's a shot from part way through the last game. Obviously my terrain isn't "quite" finished....a good chunk of the minis aren't either. She's playing Rebels on her way to defeating my CIS droids (a nice anachronistic battle...). Grevious is already down, and that darned air speeder is about to swing around for another strafing run on my B1s.... I'm currently prepping some Imperials for a game at the flgs on Tuesday, our restrictions have rolled back enough for some in store play again. That army will even all be painted, assuming I stop reading the forums and finish that last medical droid I need.)
Zink
I've been playing a lot of Blitzkrieg Commander IV with my 17 year old son. -30 C weather closed the school for a week and then midwinter break meant he was home a lot in February. I'm 3D printing all the minis and a lot of the terrain for it. Kind of slowing down on it now because I have so much made and thinking of switching projects soon. No in game shots but I took some pics of some of the minis. Canadian infantry and tank regiments. I lied. I found a couple in gmae photos. here's one with some houses I also printed. I scratch built or 3D printed everything in the photo.
Rob Dean
So, I actually resolved the battle. It took about 45 minutes. The humans were attempting to reach the refuge of the tower, to which the leader was holding the key. While they got off to a good start, inflicting the first couple of casualties, things suddenly went south. The leader was slain by the troll (shown above) and the three survivors, now outnumbered and outclassed by the troll and surviving wolf rider, chose to flee... The unexpected turnovers of initiative make Song of Blades and Heroes pretty good for solo play; it’s pretty easy to see what each side’s most urgent problem or greatest opportunity is as their turn comes up.
Rob Dean
After a 14-15 month gap, I had the opportunity to play some live games with an opponent this weekend. My son and his wife are now both fully vaccinated, so they came up for a visit. He’s been painting Bronze Age 1/72 scale armies for DBA through most of the pandemic, so had a bunch of them needing a test drive. Between us we had 8 available, so he grouped them geographically in a single-elimination bracket, and we had a few games (7) to determine who would be the King of Kings. (Answer: The Sea Peoples swept all before them ...) (Post pandemic haircut for him wasn’t until today...) Hittite and Syrian-Canaanite chariot corps clash at the start of the first battle ...
Rob Dean
It has ben a busy gaming weekend. I ran a 54mm medieval skirmish at the games club meeting on Friday night. My brother helped me resolve (remotely) a battle in my on-going solo campaign on Saturday afternoon, using vintage 25mm figures instead of the 1/72 scale plastics I usually use for the campaign (since I’m still short figures…) And, today I decided to unload my convention pick-up game box (the 1/72 plastics) and carefully reload it. As long as I had the stuff out, I thought I might as well set something up. As long as something was set up, I dropped some of the NPCs on the table for color, and. … … then decided I might as well run a little solo skirmish with A Song of Blades and Heroes before packing everything away. At the end, I was pleased to find that it all went neatly back into the boxes, ready to go for the next live convention (or club meeting needing an emergency extra game).

Zink
Cool. I've had the rules and minis for a couple weeks but we've been lacking in motivation to play Stargrave. End of school for the kids and spring work for me. I've got my starter crew made and a couple painted. Oldest has his crew planned but only a few minis chosen. Youngest says he'll do it someday. Slowly making more terrain and have just about enough for a table without dipping into my fantasy buildings and ruins.
Corsair
@Rob Dean please tell me more about the mat you are using! It would be great for Battletech.

It would be great for Battletech. @Chris Palmer was hosting. It's his mat, so he'll have to give you the info. what I know is that it's from DIY print a photo on a blanket service. There should be something very similar (though more expensive) from Cigar Box Battles. 59 minutes ago, Zink said: Cool. Our basic assessment is that Joe Mccollough is still trying to encourage more conflict. The need to unlock the loot before you can carry it off, and the fact that everyone has a ranged weapon of some sort means that it's easier to be in conflict an harder to grab the loot and run. I'll want to see what sort of loot-affecting powers there on on a closer read of the rules. Edited June 26, 2021 by Rob Dean 3

It would be great for Battletech. Had a blast with our first game! We did the first scenario "The Botched Deal" @Corsair , as @Rob Dean mentioned, the mat is somewhat "homemade" A friend made it using the Walgreen's Photo Department's Your-Photo-On-A-Fleece-Blanket option. The terrain pattern he found somewhere on line as a download. And simply sent the image file to Walgreen's and had a blanket made out of it. He ended up with a couple extra's that were slight misprints that he gave to friends (The border's crooked), and this is one of them. Here's some more shots of the game. I agree with Rob's assessment. Loot retrieval is harder, no more snatch and run; and the variety of ranged weapons make things very interesting. Here's some more photos of the game: My Crew in their Start Position. Crew moving out. My Crew and Rob's disagree over who gets the loot My Codebreaker downloads some Data Loot Edited June 26, 2021 by Chris Palmer

Chris Palmer
We did, though it was slow going as we learned the rules. I posted some more photos, mostly individual crew shots, and some loot shots, over in the Stargrave thread: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/89407-stargrave-in-2021/&do=findComment&comment=2020565 Edited June 26, 2021 by Chris Palmer

Steel Warrior Studios has some that work fairly well for BattleTech. HexTech line of terrain is rather nice too, at least looks wise. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet myself.
Dilvish the Deliverer
So there is a local Comic Con at the end of July here called Terrificon held at the convention center at one of the casino's here. Lots of comic artists, voice actors and TV/Movie/Wrestling guests (Michael Rooker is the the top billed this year). My FLGS has a booth and the con has given them multiple tables in the gaming area of the floor. They called me yesterday (in the middle of one of my DnD games) to ask if I wanted to run something. Pre-pandemic I used to run Adventure League so I figured they wanted me to run some DnD, but it turns out anything I want to run. So now I'm thinking of Frostgrave, Star Finder or some other skirmish game if I can get the terrain and minis together. Or see if they want to do a paint and take (or just bring some minis and paints; lord knows I have enough of them) and do it myself).
Rob Dean
I set up a remote game with a friend in Nova Scotia today, using my 40mm home cast 18th century imagi-nations collection. The situation involved a meeting engagement between two forces tasked with finding and securing a ford. It was a good game. I do note that I need to tag the scenarios in my general purpose scenario books which will work on my compact (3x5) table.
