Kinda lame how they made the Add-ons stretch goals though. Actually really annoying me for some reason. I feel like we got burned out of some loot there.

I always disliked the board game kickstarters that would include card upgrades to thicker card stock or more durable game boards. I could understand if small companies needed to do that sort of thing, but when a certain multi million dollar Kickstarter monster does it....bleh.

That's a perception thing, I think.  I mean, the alternative would be for them to have spaced out the stretch goals more to fund "free" items at the same point, more or less.  I assume they tossed in the Add On as a way to break up the larger stretches between higher stretch goals.

On a different note, I saw down in the Q&A section that the Pets in the boxed set wouldn't have models.  Does anyone know what pets those are?  Did SDE v1.0 come with pets, or were those introduced in Forgotten King?

Only Forgotten King had the pet models as far as I know.

 

ETA: Under that same line, Magnus: Note: all of the pets and creeps unlocked as stretch goals are models

The core will not come with the pets or the sprite minis. As far as we know, the core game pets (wonders) and sprites are only available as tokens. They're different from all the pets and sprites from other editions of the game. It's baffling that they will not be offered as minis. The minis are the biggest draw for SDE. It's doubtful that we will see the 2.0 core pets (wonders) in this campaign as the 1025k stretch goal says they are the final 3 pets.

They do all sorts of things depending on the pet. They can move, attack and defend as well as grant their owner an ability. In one game we played a goat pet scored the last hit on a mini-boss (Rex) and everybody cheered. They add a lot of humor to gameplay. Everybody loves having a pet on the board. It's hard to keep a strait face when you order your pet chicken to attack a kobold. *peck peck*

I was wondering about that earlier today.  The last unlock in the SDE: Forgotten King campaign was the Princess Coin, so maybe they'll do something similar?

A lot of people are hoping for a King Starfire model, but with all of the boss models in this kickstarter I'd prefer something else. A princess coin would be nice. I'm just really happy that we get a new set of tiles.
