Fin - there is a classic D&D monster called a mimic, which is basically a monster that looks like a treasure chest (but is really all mouth and teeth).

Lots of companies have made their own versions, including Reaper (search for mocking beast).

I ended up dropping this one. Tight budget this month and I need a working vacuum more than minis.

But if you settle for a broom, then you can get more minis!

Only works if you don' t have carpet! ;-)

My favourite mini: the Lightning Mage!! ^_^

I wish they could have shown more minis. I can't wait to see the female druid, female dwarf, and male rouge. I have a feeling those will be pretty awesome.

Out of the minis we've seen so far I kinda like the Sanctioned Witch. Doubt she'll be my favorite by the end but her hat is so cute! Very Soul Eater. She's gonna rock with teal hair.

Except for calico Kate and one shot. I cannot find them at non eBay prices.

They are under "1st edition" :poke:

I was teaching myself to play SDE this weekend.... because I'm still hoping to get the complete package. It depends on what kind of money I have when the pledge manager opens.

I am also trying to get more experience but very excited about the game! Not sure why ...

Also getting a nice bonus this year so able to afford anything I want for the game .. which is also tricky! There's A LOT of extras available!

At least the minis are a lot nicer to paint than regular 28mm minis, finally a chance to do the eyes really good!!

The awesome thing about soda pop is if I want to buy everything retail later I can. No pile of KS exclusive minis :)

Amen Bathory. That's the single reason why I never bought Arcadia Quest. I missed the original KS and I'll never buy the retail game, not ever. It looks like great fun, but loosing out on so many of the nicest figures or buying them from eBay profiteers isn't an option. I was happy to get Rum & Bones, Zombicide Black Plague, and Blood Rage through kickstarter, but if I had missed them, the exclusives would have made those games dead to me.

I've already bought loads of SDE singles, warbands and a level expansion at retail and I'll buy more. If they had been exclusives I never would've considered buying any SDE at retail. Why CMoN continues to pump out so many exclusives is baffling.

Especially in plastic, which doesn't have cheap molds.  I could understand them keeping a few as convention exclusives or whatever, but the number of "Kickstarter exclusive" figures they have seems excessive for that purpose.

For whatever reason, I prefer the SDE aesthetics over Arcadia Quest.  I don't know if it's the "video game" styling or the fact that it's just really bright and cheerful (not that Arcadia Quest is dull), or just the style of the figures.

Agreed. SDE generally uses smaller, more rounded heads than the original Arcadia Quest minis. The original AQ minis look like some sort of a 'western comic x chibi manga' crossover, while Soda Pop sticks to the classic Japanese chibi style. Some of the new Arcadia minis are looking more and more similar to SDE. Not all, but some.

I like the figures from SDE due to their facial variety. For AQ, majority of the males are angry / yelling and the majority of the females have their head tilted down a little, with their eyes up in a coy fashion. *shrugs*

And *shakes fist at Findariel*...I did not know SPM separated their sections in that fashion. *shakes fist again*
