Don't shake your fist at me but at SodaPop, I didn't make up that user unfriendly setup and it took me ages to find it as well!

 

I like the figures from SDE due to their facial variety. For AQ, majority of the males are angry / yelling and the majority of the females have their head tilted down a little, with their eyes up in a coy fashion. *shrugs*

 

Fully agreed, the AQ minis generally look so-so, not a big fan of (most of) them.

If it weren't for the generally high(er) rated gameplay I wouldn't be interested in the game at all.

Also - AQ have prominent noses and the minis look thinner and a little lanky.

 

The SDE minis (heroes, creeps, and 8bit monsters at least) have that rolly-polly childlike chibi look nailed.

There might even be a box deal still for all the relic knight crossovers.

 

Another option is miniature market - those guys have great prices and ship fast.

I think SDE's style is reminiscent of old video game characters like Mario, Link, and Mega Man.  I don't know if they're "chibi" (strictly speaking), but they definitely had big heads compared to their body.

They have some sweet deals for SDE. I got The original game, FK, Caverns of Roxor, Mistmourn Coast warband, and at least 5 singles there. Most my SDE loot, not to mention most of my paint and non-kickstarter Reaper minis. They also have excellent customer service. That's actually how I found out about the Reaper website. I had a problem with a Reaper mini (headless bones bugbear) and they directed me here. I still have that bugbear unopened in the package.

@Findariel, I'm not familiar with Miniature Market on Black Friday, it will be my first for the site. I have 5 hero add-ons sitting in my cart and hoping to hit the free shipping. I know I can pad it with Krosmaster for my friend and Reaper Miniatures for myself. ^__^

Fin - my only warning with Beatrix, is make sure you take the time to disassemble her for prep and paint. There are so many tiny spots that are impossible to clean mold lines off of and then paint. I found hot water, to weaken the glue, was my friend here!

Well let's see how it happens. I may just buy a few expansions and minis as the prices are really low!

 

Let's see what to pick; I'd also like to have Von Drakk Manor, Vandella, Stilt Town zombies, Jack Scarecrow .. all undead, halloween, horror themed ..

Thanks for the tip! I absolutely love that boss mini, I think I'll paint her as one of the last (after some practice)!

 

Really nice to see that there are a few themes, I'm also planning to make custom boards/tiles, like lava, caverns, forest and graveyards to cater the individual spawn groups.

Especially as they seem to have quite some synergies that make them stronger together than they are individually.

 

Like undead: Grabby House, Pumpkin Patch, Shallow Grave.

Kobolds and dragons: Koopbold Warrens, Claw Shrine, Egg Clutch.

Plants and fungi: Old Growth Hollow, Fungal Growth.

And some of the bosses that come with it.

 

Woudln' t it immensely increase immersion and gameplay fun if you make board tiles like these:

 

 

Lastly I am also really curious to find out how much tactical gameplay the game allows for, compared to just luck.

And the game balance; I've read that some heroes, bosses and spawn groups are far stronger than others. How to encourage people to play weaker heroes? Add a points system?
