Findariel - I've heard Arcadia is pretty good and Super Dungeon is fun.

For me, it comes down to the aesthetic of the minis. I just don't find the Arcadia Quest heroes to have that same classic 8bit video game feel. SDE makes me nostalgic on all sorts of levels!

My group played Arcadia Quest a few times, and it's a fun game with a very well-done balance of PvE and PvP.  As such, I think it's a little more "individually competitive" than SDE (which is either "group competitive" if vs. the Consul, or completely co-op in Arcade Mode).

Also, as Mattnuke stated, I think the two games have slightly different aesthetics (even while both falling under "chibi").  SDE has a more "video game-y" feel to it, while Arcadia Quest is more "typical fantasy turned chibi".

I'm a little surprised they went with a game screen. For that much card real estate I thought they would've gone with more tiles. People have been asking for tiles since day one. Practically speaking, I think the screen might prove more useful if they organize lots of info for the consul.

Gotta say, I love the Lunar Knight. Love love. Does anybody know if she is inspired from something? She certainly has a familiar look.

Reminds me of a very old character.  Celes Chere from Final Fantasy 6.

And yes, I jumped in on this set as well.

@Mattnuke @Magnus Mercury @The Faceless King: thanks for the replies!! ^_^

That doesn't make it much easier though, I think the gampelay style of Arcadia would be better suited ... but I like the SDE minis a lot more ...

Decisions, decisions ...............

Or even the Add-Ons!  Three Bosses and 18 Creeps per set!

Kinda lame how they made the Add-ons stretch goals though. Actually really annoying me for some reason. I feel like we got burned out of some loot there.

Honestly, look at the Reaper Bones kickstarters (2&3 especially).  There were specific stretch goals with specific goals within those.  I think that SDE is trying to mimic some level of that success, while also ensuring that they can keep making the miniatures we are purchasing.

Hmm I read the next Arcadia Quest Inferno is also on KS soon (nov 16th).

Would you people recommend dungeon legends .. or arcadia quest?

Two different games. BoardGameGeek has reviews on both.

AQ = Player vs. Player

SDL: = Gamemaster vs. players, plus character progression

Otherwise, AQ. AQ's game designer, Eric Lang, has *much* more design experience than SDE's game designers. SDE has had multiple rules changes, with some criticisms of each version.

Has a rulebook for the SDL campaign rules been posted yet?
