Bones 77134 - Hajad Pirate

Recommended Posts

I thought the skin was pretty good, though I'd have dulled down the metallics on the chest he's carrying and his sword a bit.  It looks too new against his well done grungy pirate look :-)

He seems a tiny bit reddish, but I think that's due to the paint pot behind him monkeying with the camera a bit.  The big difference between painting darker skin and melanin-impaired types like me is that pigment density drops precipitously on the palms, soles, and nails.  Otherwise it's just a pallete shift.

Great Job,

Really solid painting !!!!

I would recommend that you get some of the backgrounds available from Magic Voodoo to enhance your

wonderful work.  Photography is a pain in the buttski, but you need to show off your work to its best advantage.

That background does nothing to help you show off all your labor.

Look forward to seeing more of your work !

Don't sell yourself short, he looks great. Your red cloth looks properly red, that's a colour a lot of people have trouble pulling off. And the base looks perfect for the mini, he looks like he is just leaving the beach on a Caribbean island, heading inland to bury his treasure.

I've got to get myself some of those grass tufts and/or flock.

Looks pretty good to me. Did the ear give you any trouble? I had to re-sculpt the one on mine; the mold line made a bad distortion right there.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I am confident to try again on a future model, I will need to look at how the skin tone lightens as it gets closer to hands and feet.

2020 has-been rough on everyone but some people have had it rougher than others.  A friend of mine is disabled and has had a really hard time just trying to keep basic necessities done.

I thought I would send her a little friend who's got simpler an cuter problems. Purple is her favorite color.  He goes out in the mail on Monday

      Hope you like him too...

Back when the Bones 4 Kickstarter was running, when the Giant Rhinoceros Beetle was revealed in the Fan Favorites set, someone posted this photo of a Frog riding a Beetle to the Enthusiasm Thread, and I knew it was a conversion I would eventually want to try.  I have an extensive Frog Army, and I wanted such a figure to be a Leader or Hero for my forces.

I had the pieces I needed at hand; the Bones Black "Giant Rhinoceros Beetle", and my rider - for which i  had decided to use the Bones "Mudcroak" Squog figure.

As I looked at Mudcroak, I knew I would have to separate him from his base, but I knew there was no way I could remove all those little toes from the base without damaging them.  So, right off the bat I made the decision to just remove his feet along with the base, with the plan that I would then resculpted them with greenstuff directly onto the beetle's back once I had the frog glued in place.

Here's a test fit, with the frog held in place with blue-tac.

      That's all for right now.

Ok, this may have been asked before and I have a terrible memory and I could not find a straight answer in the FAQ.

The white material vs the slightly less white material (not to be confused with bones black)
I have a what is essentially a bucket of bones miniatures from all 4 kickstarters.  Im a slow painter.
I decided to pick a few out to paint.  I painted Almaran the gold and noticed his head was deformed.  replaced it
Next I tried Durok the dwarf ranger and I noticed his right side did not mold correctly.  Nothing I could do about it but its fine not complaining.
Ive noticed most of my bones 4 that had the new grey material have not had these sort of issues.
I would show pics but I dont wanna...

My question is has this issue been fixed for the older bones miniatures,  Are they being cast in this new grey material?

This was a quick, and fun, paint - I have a soft spot for the translucent figures - painted up as a 'gift' from an NPC to my players. Just open the box for help....

Hello everyone, here are pictures of a cute but deadly little lady goblin. 14178, Skralla the Reven Hero was sculpted by Jason Wiebe. I painted her with Reaper MSP paint.

According to the rumours; Skralla grew up near the Shores of the Sea of Stars, far from Monglash. She heard the tales of Razig and his undead crew, and has always wanted to join them. Knowing that Razig would never accept her unless she proved herself a true pirate, she raided Aizen Krahl one night and emerged with one of the dwarves' coveted guns and a trail of bearded corpses behind her. Now that she has the guns, the murder, the pillaging, and the rumming down, she has thrown in her lot with Varaug in hopes of meeting Razig one day and joining him. If only she had stolen ammunition, or knew how to load the wretched thing. Still, it serves her well with a blade tied on, and maybe Razig can teach her shooting.
