lexomatic's fall 2015 WIP

Recommended Posts

So I've been secretly painting a little, and not updating. I'm planning on doing a little bit more of both going forward.

Currently I'm working on 2/3 of a pack of extra zombies for zombicide, a lot of undead from bones 2 (mostly skeletons, and some ghasts which are just waiting to get varnished at this point. and a few other items I haven't yet decided on - hopefully shelf of shame stuff so I can clear it off, and maybe a few modern pc types.

a few stragglers are missing, and a few I did this summer. The mostly black & white guy is a special project I'll explain in more detail when I get to posting more specifically about that mini

Here's a few close-ups of the more finished guys (base coats). Orange and yellow base skin color.

Nice looking zombies you have there.  The one in the jogging suit is genius!  My only contribution is that they're a bit clean for zombies, their clothes I mean (although it could just be the photos).

Dirtification wash... done.

Interesting to note, lonestar leather thinned for a wash (I thought I'd try something a little different) gets really tan, and looks more like coffee ice cream.

We'll see how it looks tomorrow.

Today is a day off, so I'm doing a little work on the last zombicide fatty - doing skintones before I do the mold spores  (planning on adapting Baugi's moss technique)- and I got totally inspired by this thread. I had to start work today on 2 pillars of evil with verdigris. Photos of progress tonight. This will be done tomorrow more or less.

Finally, I thought I already posted a link to this show-off thread. More photos tonight of the pics I previously took.

I might also post of layout photo of inspiration for a home made temple-y structure that I'm tentatively calling "In the court of the skeleton king" or something.

Here are starting pics of the pillars.

And one with the verdigris added (they are now both covered)

I'll see about another coat of verdigris at 6 and then a sepia wash later.

Probably drybrush the bronze tomorrow.

Should I go for more bronze? I'm going to touch up the skulls for sure, but unless someone thinks I need more metal, these are done.

I decided to add a bit of antique gold to spice things up a bit. That's it until the show-off thread.

I also did some more skin shading / darkening eye sockets of my remaining zombicide mini.

Well 2020 is over and even though the year wasn't so great I did get my dragon goal of 12 dragons completed (actually completed 15 !) So with the new year I'm looking to try it again.

The last year I did a bunch of dragons from all eras a d makes.  This year I think I will make the challenge a little more specific.  This year I'll try for 12 dragons from defunct companies: grenadier, Ral Partha, Thunderbolt Mountain, heritage, and others that are no longer producing today.  Whether i include minis from companies that died recently, im not sure (and I  know Ral Partha lives on as Iron Wind and Grenadier lives on as Merltion?  But I'm including them because its my challenge and the ones I have are the originals.

That said the first piece I did was the Bridge of Sorrows.  It came out really well so I let my better half look through my old boxed sets and she chose the next one:  Clutch of Fear!

This is another mini that I have had sitting in its box waiting for decades to be completed and its time has come (besides if I really mess up they have started recasting the molds again so its not an utter disaster. Also, since i have this one in the original box, I thought i would do a WIP to show how it goes.

Here is what it look like when I opened the box...

All the parts are there, including the instructions (more on those in the future) and an "inspected by 3" as well as assembly instructions.

Hope you all enjoy the ride.  I'll try to be diligent with updates.

Taletha knew she was ready, she had studied the grimoire, practiced the ritual over and over again.
She would call upon the Spiritworld and ask for a champion to avenge her parents.
Power surged through her when she spoke the forbidden words, a cold wind blew her candle out and suddenly the spirit appeared.

It's night, it rains and it seems everybody in this forsaken town has closed their doors and windows.
Even the Inn seems to be closed, why?
One would think the villagers are afraid of something.

You hear the sound of wings in the dark sky above you.
Suddenly you hear a soft voice:
All alone in the dark? How nice!

You turn around and the last thing you see is the Necromera.
