77118: Tiviel on a lava base

Recommended Posts

She looks really good and the base looks especially awesome!

I think all in all you could up the highlights the whole figure over - seeing her on the finished base with the really cool glowing OSL you achieved, some parts of her end up looking flat in contrast, especially her pants and skin.

Doing curved blades in NMM is especially difficult because even having the highlights placed exactly where they're meant to be, it can still look off. Part of what's not helping, imo, is the TMM on the rest of her. The eye sees that glittery metallic shine and then the dull matte mimicked shine and it throws everything off.

Nothing you did is bad or wrong though and you should be very proud of yourself for attempting - and achieving - some awesome firsts!

Thank you so much for this very constructive critique. I am very much aware now that TMM and NMM should not be together for the very reason you have explained. I will also strive to work on more (moar!) contrast.

Hello everyone, this is the third and last of my 06132, Skeleton Swordsman sculpted by Kevin Williams. I added some group pictures too.

Hello everyone, I completed this one last night. 02615, Female Bloodguard was sculpted by Dennis Mize. I removed the axe she was holding in her left hand and replaced it with a shield from a 14359 Crimson Knight.

Hello everyone, something different this time. I just completed a Tabletop World Water Well. Like I mentioned in the WIP, my main goal was to add weathering effect on the well lid and wood. I painted the lid using the non metallic metal (nmm) technique and then added the verdigris effect. For the copper nmm I used 09030 Leather Brown, 09031 Tanned Leather, 29825 Tusk Ivory and 09039 Pure White. Then, for the verdigris I used a blend of 29848 Jungle Camo, 09294 Alien Goo and 09282 Maggot White.

I also added rust effect on the metal parts as well as rust stains on the wood (below the nails mainly). I finally added shading 09255 Black Wash on some areas to give more contrast to the wooden beams and shingles. Although it doesn’t really show much, I added water effect in the bucket. I may need to add an additional drop. I also added the vine growing alongside the beam on the opposite side of the crank wheel, moss between the shingles and various other plants and flowers.

Hello everyone, here are pictures of the last Dark Dwarf I painted for my Duergar squad. I converted a 44109, Enlarged Dark Dwarf Smiter sculpted by Bobby Jackson to make it look more like a Striker. I changed the original hammer head for a 3D printed two sided meat tenderizer and added the eye patch. Thanks to Derek feedback, I really pushed myself on this one. I think I spent something like 3 or 4 hours on the beard only. It is standing on a 2 inches square base. The ball and chain are made of Milliput and a 3mm hobby chain. Your comments are welcome. Group pictures coming soon.
