02914 Blue Orchid, Assassin (Matt Gubser)

He is just that good at killing! I really like the cloak, maybe not very assassin like, but very pretty.

I think he looks great. Maybe it's a magical cloak of concealment that shines until you activate it.

It would be surprising if Dullcote wouldn't kill the shine. That stuff never fails on my minis.

Wow, he looks wonderful!  You've some really nice, smooth transitions going on there on his cloak.  I agree, hit it with some Dullcote and it should knock off that shine.

Well, how do Moon Knight or Storm Shadow sneak around wearing all white?

They. Are. Just. That. Sneaky!!

This guy is almost that sneaky because he can sneak around in a shiny outfit.

Maybe he's an arsonist rather than an assassin, and that cloak is made of some fire-protective material. There are too many drab characters on tabletops anyway.

Sometimes even an assassin has to blend in with society, and a shiny purple cloak is just the thing at court. Great figure. Nice shading on the cloak.

I think it looks fantastic, like he just got caught in a moment of direct moonlight. Those are beautiful highlights and you should be proud.

Started these at the same time I did the Middenheimers. One is based on Astrid from Skyrim, the other on an old coworker whom the sculpt resembled. Victory two of the challenge thus far.

Overall I'm happy with how they came out. again I went with a simple grey stone base in case I rebase them in the future.

      "Dine and dash, eh?!"
"The Dark Brotherhood eats for free!"

The cloak could've come out better, but I'm more concerned with clearing the Shelf of Incompleteion currently.

This is yet another of my metal trade bin finds! I picked him out because he looked like he was wounded, and I love minis in poses other than at-arms. It turns out that he's clutching a dagger on his chest, and not a wound. Also, I'm spoiled by Reaper's wonderful faces. This one is a little bit flat, though that may be due to being in the bin. Anyway, not my best work, but I painted this in a few hours!

Here is the female assassin from the Grenadier Action Art set “Monsters”. I don’t really think of female assassins as monsters, except in the metaphorical sense. I would have been a little disappointed if a box labeled “Monsters” had had a bunch of people. But anyway... Her face is a bit rough; the sculpting makes her look old, but her short dress seems to imply a young woman. But maybe it’s just a long shirt?

Back in the early 80’s, Grenadier put out a few “learn to paint” type mini kits, much like the few Reaper has done. They were called Action Art and came with 11 or so minis each. This guy is from one such set. I’ve painted him as recommended in the “Action Art Painting Guide.”

He is small, even for the early days of 25mm sculpts. So he’s shrimpy, yet buff. Enjoy.
