Silvervane
Sigh, Several week ago a ran through a no motivation to do anything phase. No painting, no exercising, and no language learning. Today I started back up again on all the above. I'd been painting for a bit, but the other's had ... not gotten off again.
Jasonator
Good luck Silvervane; Hey, Sometimes you just need a break to sort out the lemons and limes to make Lemonade; and key lime pie ! Life isn't for Wuzzes !
Jasonator
Hope everyone is progressing ! I've been working on "refreshers"... what a pain in the butt. Though I have to admit, I got quite the laugh when I was refreshing locations, and it updated my families icon. Seems I found a bug.. chuckle. As a computer tester, I adore when I find an error ! Teeheee. (yeah, I can be a jerk)...
Jasonator
They just removed my Owl.. Seems they have now incorporated another bunch of lessons. Looks pretty extensive. I'll just knock them of one by one as I feel like it. Oh..For our Svenske friend.. Prinse Karl Phillipe och Prinsesse Sofhia fikk en Gjorde ! (Prince phillip and princess sophia have had a boy). Name will be announced from the royal palace in stockolm in Sweden. Fifth grandchild of King Karl Gustav, and Queen Sophia.

Silvervane
After a short bit away I'm back to it. Day 3. Going through the tree again for review.till I get to the part I left off.
Jasonator
Yay.. Good for you Silvervane. Believe me, at one point it ALL makes sense, and then becomes a race for understanding. In my case, my cousin's in Norway freak when I send them an email (e-post) commenting on the Norwegian news, my interpretation (In English) about what is happening. They are astonished that I can see what is happening in their country. In my case, my cousin is a language expert, and I honestly don't want to tap into his "perfectionism on linguistics". I write in English (with Norwegian in quotes). Love getting the feed back; but sometimes it is minutia. Keep plugging along. One lesson at a time. You WILL conquer the Tree. Best of Luck. Silvervane
OK, I'm level 13 now. Day 10 of my new streak. Passes checkpoint 2 of the tree on my review towards where I left off. It's is actually quite heartening how easily I have breezed through all these older lessons. I still have to think about the translations, but they are coming much faster on these older lessons. Now I have to make it to past the next checkpoint to get to where I had left off.

I have been knocking off the 130 new additions to the Norwegian Language pages. They added 130 lessons. I nailed 18 of them in short order (I don't attempt to climb the level ladder, I'm level twelve). I just reminded myself.. USE THE NOTEBOOK. I've been just nailing the changes without recording the information. So Now I am being disciplined again, writing down every new line and challenge, since that is how my memory functions. Can't wait to see you getting ahead and gaining confidence! Great Job ! Jay Good Grief. Edited May 3, 2016 by Jasonator
Silvervane
Before My brief break I had actually started writing down some of the lessons on paper for review as I went through the lessons. So I understand the use notes as you go along. I just can't keep myself that disciplined. Though today I had a few hover moments where I questioned my memory. Most of the time I was right, but not sure enough to hit the enter key. Though the type what you hear sections went easier than normally. Normally I hit it several times before I get the whole statement. The past few I was able to hold the phrase in my head with out repeat. I count that as a win. Glad to hear your still cruising along as well Jasonator. 130 new lessons WOW! Almost like take the course over with all the answers changed.
Jasonator
That's excellent news. One of the good things about Spanish learning is that you don't have a new alphabet to learn. Just that accent mark ! ' in there. The Norwegian language course was originally 330 lesson, now with 130 added it is the largest language course offered. The best part is the sections have been grafted to the original tree, and they are quick. Spelling and tricky grammar, and words that sound alike, but aren't. I'm avoiding the Philosophy/religion/and jobs sections to last. I almost stopped taking the course during the Philosopy/Religion section (drove me insane with obscure quotes from Henrik Ibsen's Glass Managerie)..LOL Keep up the great work ! Erifnogard
Just learned the Swedish word for 'cheese slicer' is 'osthyvel' which, given that the word for 'razor' is 'rakhyvel', means that their word for cheese slicer now translates in my mind as cheese razor. I am easily entertained.

The original (its Norwegian by the way) was a wood plane used by a house wife to cut brunøst) The Norwegian name is østhøvel. Erifnogard
My lesson just asked me to translate "I hate Mondays" into Swedish. I had no idea that Duolingo knew me so well.
