GW bringing back specialist games

I always hear Blood Bowl has a strong following but many of the stores I've been to have never even heard of it (sans the current game store we go to because he is a GW enthusiast)...I usually have to explain it to ppl.

This seems pretty big to me, but I don't have any frame of reference for how many events other games typically have.

I want 10mm Warmaster to return so I can finally build another army, just for the fun, I will never play with it thought.

I have heard rumors (and seen pictures) that there are people using the Warmaster figures with Kings of War, exchanging centimeters for inches.

The Auld Grump

I actually think this is something the GW misses the boat on. Its okay for your miniatures to be used in other games, if you make the core troops a bit more generic and let the elite stuff define the look of you game then you have probably increased your potential market for at least the core troops by maybe 50% plus maybe suck them into your game.

GW has always been very firm about this. In a tournament or competition you can only bring GW minis.

Nothing else is permitted.

With I want Warmaster to return, I actually hope for a new 10mm fantasy army,

I've build ( and sold) a few at the time.

I love to compose them, paint them and then I sell them to get new ones..10mm armies tend to look nice and massive.

I combined some with Kallistra 10mm who make nice minis at that scale too.

Oh well... let's wait and see what happens.

During the nineties and early oughts, they took it one step further, and were trying to tell store owners to discourage folks from using GW miniatures in other games.... Not even GW stores - telling FLGS owners to take preventative action. The local store owner laughed at that, and continued to let folks use the figures that they had.

They had some notion that allowing folks to use their miniatures in other games would somehow dilute their brand.

The Auld Grump - GW has little idea of how IP actually works....

GW'$ business model had long ago turned me away from buying anything with their nane on it. They had nice sculpts, but between the price and their antics, I bought other brands.

Yep, Still love old Citadel and early GW minis,

I did like the Warmaster thing, I painted a few huge armies, Chaos/Barbarian and Khemrian Undead..

But alas, like all things good thta came from GW, they pulled the plug.

You know what I would love to see? I'd love to see the return of the Specialist Games via Forge World suddenly turn Forge World into the fastest growing, and most profitable division of Games Workshop.

I doubt it will happen, but it would be an "I told you so" moment for all of us who railed against GW dropping them like a hot potato all those years ago.
