They're by Brother Vinni.

Too late?

Clearly he's been playing Dungeon Keeper recently. I see Brother Vinni's obsession with topless models continues into the realms of bad taste. It's a shame really as they're pretty decent sculpts otherwise. There's nothing wrong with a little well placed artistic nudity but unfortunately, in Brother Vinni's case, it always comes across as gratuitous and often sometimes crude whenever he sees the need to cram some more in there.

If my comment came across as trying to censure anyone else then I apologize for it -- that was not my intent by any means.  Just expressing my emotionally charged opinion about an image that I personally found shocking and upsetting.  The image in the first update is, in my opinion, different in tone than the image on the main page, and I found it perturbing enough that I have no intention of looking at it twice.

And yes, he is a fantastic sculptor!

Well, I'll say neither D&D's Loviatar nor Pathfinder's Socothbenoth would exist if games publishers didn't think a subset of their audience wants to take down (or possibly play) sadistic perverted dungeon overlords. So yes, TSR/WotC/Hasbro and Paizo have pretty well established there should be a market for fitting miniatures, too. (And so did Citadel, back in the 70s.)

Heck, even taking perversion out of the equasion, evil overlord torture dungeons technically need 'civilians' and, very likely, 'victim objetive markers', from a gaming pov.

That said, I don't really like these, due to lack of utility. The clearly Dungeon Keeper inspired costumes (or lack thereof) make these mostly useless as gaming pieces. Or display pieces, for that matter, unless I specifically want to do a medieval fantasy torture dungeon run by someone who invented the pony hood centuries before their time.

So yes, actually, this means I would see more potential use (for the victims in particular) if they were wearing even less. Just getting rid of those hoods would make them easier to buy as followers/victims of Loviatar/Socothbenoth, for example.

Poor reaction on my part and apologies for the same.  Lately my forums have been plagued with people coming down hard on people who are interested in this stuff and it bugs me.  TBH  there not my cup of tea either and I have to agree...drop the pony hoods and they would fulfill a much larger niche.

Vinni likes his stuff the way he likes it though

The point is this guy likes to sculpt stuff like that and is pretty good at it.  and he wants to raise enough money to make a bunch of them

Judging by the 200% completion goal hes got an audience.  And good on him.   We all like what we all like.  Its not really fair (and makes people who are interested in this feel very poorly judged) to point and say that "not cool" or "ugh"  Cause to some people ..its is cool and not ugh at all.  Just say that's not for me and move on.  I don't look at miniatures of orcs and say...man ..orcs are dumb and ugly and its not cool someone is making them.

Good on brother vinni for making a mini I've never seen before.

Sorry for the rant.  I've seen a lit of people instantly dismissing good stuff lately simply cause its sexual in nature and not commenting on how good or bad the actual sculpt is

I never said that. I said that it is not sexy, when it is clearly intending to be sexy. It's like criticizing the onslaught two cthulhu wars minis for not capturing a horror tone.

In fact I don't think anyone has criticized these minis for being sexual. The closest we have are people saying they have no use for them due to their nature, bring up that victim #2 is really uncomfortable in content, or like me dismiss them as not achieving their conceptual goal.

Just checking up on this and it would seem from the last update from a couple months ago that the sculptor hadnt sculpted anything in 7 months?!?

Wonder if he and the Imbrian Arts guy went to the same sculpting school of procrastination.

I thought Mick Leach might have a hand in this, but when I saw that you'd written 7 months and not 7 years, I ruled that out

It seems Brother Vinni generally has a tendency to make glaciers look fast-moving at times. Regular webshop orders can take two months or so to actually process, without any notification of there being a delay or why.

Still he does seem to always deliver eventually, so I guess anyone who backed this doesn't need to be overly concerned. Unless of course they were looking to creep out relatives for Christmas this year...
