I have been cleaning and filing this Miniature since Sunday morning.

This was a gift from my best friend for co-celebrating his wedding.

Knocked me out of the park when I opened it.

While they are away on their Honeymoon, I have the pleasure of putting

this incredible sculpt together.  Mold lines on base have been driving me up the wall.

So I now have gotten my first 54 mm challenge.  Quite an interesting piece of work.

I took some photos as I have started his assembly.

Feels good to have a WIP again.

Here is what I am working with, oh.. small bag still holds helmet, arms and head.

The helmet (much to my relief) does NOT have horns.

That does a Nordmans heart good.

Jay.

(And can we see a pic of the rest of the pieces? pleasepleaseplease)

ANDREA

Norse Lord 800AD

The miniature is put out by:

My friend that gave me the miniature said he was MOST unhappy with their service.

He ordered the miniature months ago, and it showed up the day of the rehearsal dinner.

He was NOT pleased with their service.

He's assembled.

For some strange reason, my camera skills are functional this morning...

Shocking...!

Here is what he looks like, minus the helmet.  Saving that for last, since it will be in the way.

I love what I am looking at here !

I may have to get a few Andrea figures, I've looked at their site a few times, but hearing how unhappy your friend was, I'll look for a US distributor...

Yeah, he said that they dropped the ball quite a few times, and he had given up hope of it showing up before the dinner on Friday.

The Quality on these sculpts is amazing.  The details are very crisp.  I was amazed that they fit together very well.

The only real problem I had was putting the back on the throne (its not flat, so I had to file away at the inside of the base,

and use the tab on the side as a glue base.  It worked.

Dooo EEEtttt  Ub3r, YOU NEED these in your collection  !!

You Do, in jay's best Joda's voice.

Au Da (Oh Dear);

Warning Will Robinson, Warning.... This mini is shear delight !!!  Addictive... you can't put it down !!!!

In all seriousness, this thing is incredible.

I primed, smile.

I then covered in brown liner... goodness is this detailed.. Bigger smile.

Oh well, I'll just put some color on it.. mmmm... oh, those shadows in face..hmmmm.

I made a color choice of RED for the cloth/cloak.. gotta put the shadow color in first.

Well, at least I got my language lesson done first !!

This Sculpt is a joy to work with.

Take a look and you can see why my toes are curling.

Jay

This is another bogle for Monster Blood Tattoo though it happens to look a lot like an especially large werewolf.

First the sculpt:  Although fur is often difficult to clean the parting line on this one was largely invisible to begin with.

Second the paint:  It lent itself to a simple drybrush, but I've gone for such dark colors it doesn't show up in the photo.

Third the question:  I just glued it to a round base today and can't decide how I should finish the base.  It's going to be used in tabletop skirmish games so it doesn't need anything fancy.  I just can't decide between gluing on sand and little rocks, applying resin sand gel, or using Apoxie Sculpt to build up the circular base to the level of the stock base.  Opinions?  Pros & cons?

This is one of my favourite minis and I have been working on it for awile. I hmmd and hawd about how to base it but finalluy decided to do a simple raised cork base.

Ladless and Gentlemints, I've been kicking this idea around for a while now. And with the current isolation I think it's a great time. I propose a craft paint challenge. I have tons of great miniature paints from various brands, but for the sake of fun lets see what we can do with craft paints. This is my proposal. Grab a random miniature, Bones or otherwise, and ideally whatever craft  paints you have on hand (no going to the store for craft paints, this is to promote social distancing) and see what you can do. This will serve two purposes. It will be a fun way to throw some paint on a miniature, and hopefully we can also show a lot of people that while specialized paints are amazing, you can also get decent results on a budget. If you aren't into miniature painting, and still want to throw some craft paints on canvas or paper or whatever then that would be great as well.

I encourage everyone who feels it to jump in on this. Also what do you think about #craftpaintchallenge for tagging. Please post results on here and other social media. Lets see how much love we can get, and how far this will go.

Official/unofficial start date of 4/11. And lets go. Cheers.

Painted up this cool dwarf.  Went for an icy look and I'm really happy with how he turned out.  Critiques and advice are always welcome!  Thanks in advance!
