You can try asking for new labels for specific colors (by part number, not color name, please) in the notes of your next order as long as you don't pay via PayPal.

I cannot guarantee that they would honor the request, if it was a long and time consuming list, but a small number of labels they should be able to make for you.

I would consider wording similar to:

"I have a few bottles of paint with damaged labels. Would it be possible for you to send me new labels for these colors: XXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXX etc., Thank you so very much!"

Thermal printing is the devil.  There's no ink, so any friction against the surface causes the paper to re-activate and smear the writing, or cold temperatures which will just cause them to fade.

I have to scan receipts from the store these days because otherwise they will literally just fade to nothing within 1-2 weeks of being in your wallet.

Can you print some Avery labels of your own and stick them on?  Giant pain in the posterior, but at least you don't have to try to make your handwriting neat and tidy for 50+ bottles...

Too late for you, but...

I have a Brother P-Touch (PT18r) which can be connected to a PC via USB, and it's no problem at all to set it up to make custom labels with borders and everything fancy with it.

Of course, you need to have a file with a list of your paints, but I assume that the more organised of us already have that.

(Hurries to begin such a file... )

post-14703-0-13359800-1450458452_thumb.jpg

The file is a simple text file with a .csv extension.

First line is:

Paintnr, colourname

Then you add a line for each colour in the same format.

09287, Neon Yellow
09419, Tropical Blue
(Those are all the Reaper Mini paints I have... yet... )

It handles DBs and spreadsheets, also.
And you could add columns for brand, for 'colourgroup'
(metallic/leather/bone/blues/whatever.)
which is kind of practical if you want to relabel a specific part of the collection.

I think I need to buy some 18mm(3/4") Black on White tapes.
(I only have Black on Fluorescent Orange in 18mm, yet. )

Be aware. If the "very" is not included in the thanking, then you will receive a box of angry scorpions instead.

Guess that's better than desiccated clown noses...

those are sent by the pocket ful, not in boxes

That's just if you don't put the "very" in before thanking me. ::P::;,;:

Taking a page out of Doc Bedlam's playbook are you?

Thanks for dropping by Bryan, good to know! In my case it's well over a 100 bottles so I'll just Sharpie them back into existance (or rather my minion will  ).

Mine are stored in paint caddies.. although I stuffed too many paints in them and the rubbing made the labels fade too.

But..When I paint from a bottle the first time, I dip the top of the bottle cap in the paint.

So I can always see the colour of the paint when dry, on the bottle.

I might not know what it's called anymore, but I see what I want to use.

Nowadays, I leave some more room between the bottles.

love the minion bribing, glad I'm not the only one who does this ^_^

also, just going to say, rather than re-label etc, although I realize that may be what you want, I just thought I'd mention, I always dip the tips of the caps in the paint itself, so I can easily tell what colour is in what bottle (with P3 or Citadel paints I just paint on the cap with my brush). Of course I have a hard time reading labels period so anyway that's my solution.

Also, a piece of tape or a very thin coat of sealer over the labels should prevent it from happening again.

Nope. I tried that when a few of my bottles started fading. It made it WORSE. I just wrote the names & numbers on them -_-

I went over the labels with a micron pen, and then put the tape over them. I haven't had a problem with any of them fading and several of the ones I did are at least five years old.
