I think the breakthrough for me was 2-fold: 1- He needs an "everblight" style composition (Legion of Everblight warbeasts can really only be composed well with light skin and dark plates- most other approaches fall flat for those minis). 2- Two Brush blending is the very best way to shade large textured areas.
