Hey All,

 

I'm finally happy enough with this one to call it finished.

This was my first real attempt at blending, and while there is a bit of stepping in some places I think the piece is still better for the attempt.

I do wish the surface texture was a bit smoother in some places. Perhaps I need to clean my minis better before starting.

 

All comments and criticism are very welcome.

Looks good! Keep practicing that blending, it'll get much easier over time. Just like anything else, practice will continually make you better.

Great color choices !

Use a tooth brush, soap and water to clean them, dry them, and let them sit for a bit.

Is the cleaning pretty much the same for the plastic and metal minis? This one was plastic, but the next one I have lined up to do is metal.

Is the cleaning pretty much the same for the plastic and metal minis? This one was plastic, but the next one I have lined up to do is metal.

 

Most people around here will say the same thing, make sure to clean the mini after handling it and prepping it (such as cleaning off mold lines) with warm soapy water and an old toothbrush or similar. This will remove the mold release agent from the figure and any oils from your own hands. Most of us will either pin it, glue it, or tape it to something to handle whether it's a wine cork or medicine bottle or lid from a water bottle/soft drink bottle. Then prime it and paint after the primer dries.

 

My prep goes like this:

• Look over the figure for anything that might be miscast.
• Scrape off/file off mold lines
• Pre-drill feet holes for when I plan on attaching to basing
• Wash with warm soapy water/old toothbrush
• Use double-sided tape cut to feet of miniature size, place on medicine bottle and then push the mini down gently onto the other side to hold in place while I paint.
• Brush-on primer, let it dry
• Start painting
