Assorted Bones

 Great job on the bookshelf.

The cool thing about the bookshelf is that it was sculpted by our very own TaleSpinner, a forum member who's become a professional sculptor.

WOW - really liking the owlbear paint job - great work - if that is simple, then i need to work on simplifying ;) - eyes are awesome

mold line/seam on the shoulder is really jaring - they are a pain to hide, but it would have made a big difference on this figure

Those bookshelves look fantastic. Your work on the wood and the books themselves make me think I should be picking up a couple more myself.

And great paintwork on the owlbear too. Nothing about it indicates a quick paint job. Very nice!

Yeah; I thought about trying to do something about it, but it wouldn't be simple gap filling since there's so much texture going right over the seam.

Did you straighten the bookshelves some how? the (unpainted) ones I have seen always looked terrible warped.

I figured I would need to, but no, I didn't even do the typical dunk in hot water thing I do with most Bones.  Maybe I got lucky, not sure.  I did use a knife to cut the bottoms and flatten them out a bit.  They were fairly wobbly initially (and you can tell in the pictures they're still not perfectly flat) but they stand well enough on their own now.

Those bookshelves are really cool, but that owlbear is easily one of the best I've seen so far.

Thanks; the trick on this mini is focusing on the face.  Almost all of my time was spent working on the face.  It is clearly the central point (even more so than normal).  Beyond the face, the rest of the mini is just some basic painting and drybrushing.

Next time, try filling in the gap, and then going back over it with a tooth pick or other pointy object, going with the grain of the fur texture.  It should end up looking fairly unobtrusive.  That said, I think the model looks pretty awesome as is, and I'm sure the seam is a lot less noticeable at arm's length.  Great work.

that owl bear is awesome ... great eyes and beak ... so awesome it makes me hate that the seam wasn't green stuffed

The dire crocodile, dire boar, and dire crab were one of the Bones 4 addons, and it doesn't look like they've hit retail just yet. Which is a shame, because we need more giant crabs.

The mud on the dire crocodile's base is just some water effect goo dribbled on that half of the base. The barnacles attached to the rocks on the dire crab's base were sculpted with green stuff. The rocks... those are just rocks.

I'm looking for something to stick Bones, specifically Ma'al Drakar's terrain, to a wooden base. It's not thick enough, at the area I want to place it, to pin effectively.

What kind of adhesives would work? I'm thinking epoxy, maybe? I just /really/ don't want to melt it accidentally and have to buy a new one.

I just like the way the blue/black wings look.  - I did the same with the Librarian Sophie. (last month)
I really need to paint up one of the metal versions for contrast.
I'm not sure what she is serving - Meat, bread and salad is the way I painted it, but that could be cake instead.

Been wanting to paint this one for awhile. Love the dynamic pose! Really happy with this one.

I am sad to see the paint has rubbed off in some places, might have to try to patch that up by using some Reaper liner.
