77180: Shaerileth, Spider Demoness, by Pingo

A few things about this figure:

 

She is part of my year-end conga line of finishing up half-done minis.

 

I did not glue her abdomen together or to her body.  It is in two parts like a little clamshell box and for some reason this tickles me.  I picture her as like a very weird gift box for something small and valuable.

 

Frontal pictures are linked off-site due to forum nudity policy.

 

In order to avoid distracting shadows I photographed her on a sheet of plexiglass in front of grey cards ... and then I was enchanted by the shadow and reflection patterns anyway and ended up playing with them.  Spiders have such beautiful shadows!

Anyhow, I've cropped most of the shadow and reflection play out, but it's there in most of the original photos.

My only criticism would be the lower values of the orange could've benefitted from some underpainting to avoid the dirty look of orange painted over black.

I wanted her to look brightly colored, but not exactly ... healthy.
