Guildenstern
not personally, though I've seen uses for them in my art magazines (scrapbooking, paper arts etc) - they look really interesting! Are you going to get them?
Bruunwald
Well, Liquitex is awesome. And they are on clearance. I'd say it's a safe bet.
Heisler
Those are the only inks I use although I don't like the metallics for miniature painting. The metal flakes are really big. The umbers and siennas get used on almost every miniature I paint.
Carnacki the Ghost Finder
I've used the umber and sierra. Awesome and not shiny. Very nice as a wash.
knarthex
I use the Umber mixed with flow improver & water, and Future as a wash. Works well. 1 / 1 / 1 George
Moderator Darsc Zacal Posted January 15, 2016 Moderator Share Posted January 15, 2016 The Transparent Burnt Sienna makes a great replacement for the old GW Chestnut ink.
dsmiles
I do not have...any metallic or iridescent inks. I do, however, use Liquitex inks. They're not as glossy as Daler-Rowney inks on drying, which is good, but there is less of a variety of colors in Liquitex. At least, as far as I've found. Lox Jarg's feathers were colored entirely with Liquitex inks (specifically blue and yellow.)
Members SamuraiJack
The metals are not on clearance, so its good to know the flakes are too large.. I'll probably pick up the transparent set though.. the Color set with blue, red and yellow also seems to be on clearance...

I think that's plenty of variety. Granted its still smaller than the number of Daler-Rowney but I think that's because Liquitex doesn't have the shimmering or neon colors.
BLZeebub
Heard about them. Didn't even know Michaels carried those--buy them all...
czebas
get the brown ones, avoid the metals. burnt sienna and burnt umber are outstanding.
arclance
Noboy sells them around here so I would have to order them if I wanted them. I have to do that with all my painting stuff except for GW Paints (the local gaming store has all of them) so I am used to it.

Where are you finding yours? I will gladly rid myself of the Daler-Rowneys for equivalent Liquitexes. The only ones I could find were napthol crimson, pthalo blue (green shade), yellow medium azo, titanium white, carbon black, and transparent raw umber. You know, the six-pack basic set.
