About this project
629e559c0b948174fddf085837ebfb3d_origina

Since its release in 1999, 7th Sea has brought thousands of fans into the world of Théah—a place very similar to our own Europe in the year 1668. 7th Sea was a game inspired by the works of Alexandre Dumas, The Princess Bride, and other novels and movies of high adventure, and it played fast and furious, emulating the pace we've come to expect from movies such as Captain BloodThe Three Musketeers, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

And now 7th Sea is back in the hands of its original creator—that’s me! John Wick!—and that means it's time to bring 7th Sea back to your gaming table!

If you want to take a look at the game and see how it works, backers can download the Quickstart TODAY! It’s got everything you need to try out 7th Sea: Second Edition, including pre-gen characters, the basic mechanics, and a starter adventure!

7th Sea is a tabletop roleplaying game of swashbuckling and intrigue, exploration and adventure, taking place on the continent of Théah, a land of magic and mystery inspired by our own Europe. Players take the roles of heroes thrown into global conspiracies and sinister plots, exploring ancient ruins of a race long vanished and protecting the rightful kings and queens of Théah from murderous villains.

As a 7th Sea Hero, you might...

… save the Queen of Avalon from treacherous blackmail!

… thwart a dastardly assassination attempt on the Cardinal of Castille!

… raid the villainous fleets of Vodacce merchant-princes!

… free the Prince of the Sarmatian Commonwealth from a mysterious curse!

… make decisions that alter the very course of Théan history!

In most roleplaying games, you start off as a 1st-level loser who’s terrified of the goblin with a broken knife. In 7th Sea, you are a Hero, an icon of Théah ready to live and die for causes that matter. You can take on ten thugs with swords, knives, and guns all on your own. You don’t start off digging through old dungeons hoping to find a copper piece or two. No! You are trusted knight, a loyal bodyguard, or even… an adventuring queen herself. Right from minute one.

In other words… you’re d’Artagnan, Milady de Winter, the Dread Pirate Roberts, Jack Sparrow, Julie d'Aubigney, and the Scarlet Pimpernel all rolled up in one!

This is a game of high adventure, mystery, and action.

This is a game of intrigue and romance.

This is 7th Sea.

I HAD to back a different KS already, and there went my budget for this one.

But I want to say that I have backed TWO John Wick KSers before, Curse of the Yellow Sign and Play Dirty, and he delivered on time and with aplomb, I was very happy with he level of professionalism and communication, and I will be doing everything I can to drum up the funds to back this one if I can.

Help me out though: Many of you know I like to make books, so should I back for the PDFs and make a book, or back for the print book and not add a chore to my list?

Definitely do the PDFs and make your own epic books! Yours are soooo cool.

If you back for the physical book (at least at the level I did), you also get PDFs of all the supplements. This gives you a physical book immediately and the opportunity to make your own books of all the rest. Win-Win.

Swashbuckling fantasy with mechanics that specifically support players who try cinematic stuff. Exploding dice with a roll M keep N for combat and skills. Character gen is point based with some quirks that I very much like (you have to pay to get disadvantages, which then give you more experience points when they actually come up in play, for instance). You are also supposed to answer 20 character questions before starting play, which works better than it might. Several sorts of magic, each with a unique flavor, and a variety of combat styles with less differentiation.

The world is a transparent Europe cognate, that tries to take the most interesting part of each nation's history and jam them together. The result is pretty incoherent and deserves to be ripped out and thrown away (Napoleon in Russia, Elizabeth I of England, the 30-Years War in Germany, Spain during the Inquisition, and the Renaissance in Italy simultaneously and without Africa or the Americas really makes no sense whatsoever).

IME, the game really needs players and GM who can do swashbuckling. If you try to run it as a generic fantasy, it fails pretty badly. But when everyone is on the same page, it can be lots of fun.

Doug summed it up far better than I could. ^_^

It's like...imagine yourself as a character in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. That's basically what this game is. :bday:

My only input is that it actively encourages and rewards players that try crazy awesome dramatic stuff. I once took out two guys by jumping off of a building and shooting them on my way down (I spent all of my Drama Dice on it, but oh man was it worth it! ^_^) Drama dice are dice you get to roll when you want to do something particularly awesome, and don't want to risk biffing it, if I recall correctly. It's been several years since I last played.

My group sort of ignored the larger historical context, since it wasn't directly related to our campaign, and anyways I'm pretty sure our GM just re-wrote history to fit the game as needed.

Huzzah!

      Hi chums!

This is the latest Kickstarter project, expanding our fantasy range this time, and bringing light to the ones we have that might not have been noticed. Along with some super cool female minis, we have some brand new scenics too, and a whole bunch of add on bundles.
I'll post more on the lead up, but for now if you're interested, could you click the "notify me" on the pre launch page and it will help the algorithms, and you know algorithms are the new gods!

A new kickstarter from Crooked Dice. I've been following the publicity for this and it really appeals to me. Lots of very colourful figures and most of them are a nice change from the usual predictable gun-toting heavies. I've collected plenty of Crooked Dice figures over the years and always been very pleased with the quality.

      Story
Welcome everyone to the Kickstarter campaign for Sun & Moon. Two highly detailed 1:20 scale (90mm) resin kits  cast in high quality resin. Sun Is roughly 100mm to the top of his head!
Sun & Moon comparisment: Sun stands at nearly 100mm!!!
This has been the project that has been the longest in the works and also our most expensive one to date! We could really use your help to bring these two kits onto the market so we do hope that you like what you see and will be able to back us and help us spread the word! :)
      Story
Many years back, the idea to do some themed knights popped into my head and out of all of those, Sun & Moon were the ones that really stuck and kept coming back in my thoughts.  The idea to do two characters that are opposites of each other in every way really appealed to me.
      Sun
You have the Sun Knight, devout follower of the Sun God, a fiery and strong warrior with everything about him representing his deity. I can just see him painted in bright and warm colours that embody the very essence of the Sun!
      Moon
And then you have the Moon Knight, a cool and brooding figure that operates under the cover of darkness, guided by the wisdom of the Moon Goddess. Very much a deadly warrior in her own right! Painted in moody hues that represent the colours that only moonlight can shower the world in.
