IDW GAMES TO ADAPT TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES INTO BIG BOX ADVENTURE BOARD GAME!

MNT CO-CREATOR KEVIN EASTMAN AND DESIGNER KEVIN WILSON ON BOARD FOR LANDMARK GAME

Today, IDW Games announced a big box Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles adventure game complete with sculpted miniatures that is going to shell shock gamers. Debuting in early 2016, the game will let players step into the roles of their favorite Turtle or ultimate villain, Shredder. Designed by Kevin Wilson with input from IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creative team, franchise co-creator Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz, the game will be available in a standard and special limited-edition format, featuring artwork by Eastman.

“I’m so excited to participate in this game!†said TMNT co-creator, Kevin Eastman. “Working with IDW on their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics has been amazing, and now to get the chance to go even deeper into the story and have fans play out key moments from the series for themselves is something that’s really going to blow people away.â€

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past will be a scenario-driven campaign game that features story content from the hit ongoing IDW comic. Two to five players will battle their way through a series of 60-90 minute missions where players develop their characters strengths, fighting styles, and equipment along the way to create a lasting story arc. Fan-favorite characters like Casey Jones and Alopex will appear throughout the missions, as the Turtles call on their closest allies for help in battling their deadliest foes.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has 30 years of history, and we plan on tapping into all of it with this game,†said IDW’s Director of Business Development, Jerry Bennington. “Whether you’ve been a fan since the beginning or you’re just starting to realize how special these characters are, this game is a great way to dive into the sewers and start exploring!â€

Expect to see plenty of overlap between the ongoing comic and the board game as game previews and exclusive content begin to show up in the back of the hit ongoing series. Contributions from the creative staff of IDW’s hit TMNT comic will make this board game come alive in ways not seen in past adventuring games. From expansions based on different micro-series and ongoing events, to character expansions featuring IDW’s awesome line-up of heroes, mutants, and miscreants, the turtles have never been more ready for adventure!

While awesome, I'd have to go in for the Eastman turtles (the nostalgia in me can't fathom using any other turtle design). It's just too pricey for me right now.

In the moment I'm in, but if I think it is not worth to get it, I'm out before the KS ends...

Have they stated what kind of material will be used for the figures?  Thinking about bendy plastic on some of those thinner weapons makes me cringe.

The gameplay mechanics do sound interesting, with how teammates can influence and help each other out.

Right? I really don't like the "standard" Turtles that are coming with the game. I'd have to get the Eastman pack (and paint all the masks red).

Aaargh!

There is simply no way I can afford this, especially since this would just be a game for me to make my friends play a couple times. If I couldn't drop the cash for SDE, I really can't justify this.

Which is sad, because WAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNTTTTTTT.

If you haven't been reading the IDW comic, you should be. It's really good. The first 50 issues are an incredible ride.

A co-author and I have started a venture and would appreciate you checking out our RPG supplement!! This is our first KS project, but I’ve been here on the forums for years. We’ve backed tons of projects and all well-versed in KS.

Little secret…the project is named in homage to my favorite band. 😆

Please scope out our project! See you at ReaperCon.

They took a long time to come live with this one.......

like their other one (Sombras) Reina Roja has chosen an artist with some just askew of normal surreal artwork to draw from.    His insta is here Gary Villarreal

Looks like the only complaints on their previous KS (Sombras) were shipping delays and people who didn't seem to understand that they were ordering multipart resin models and were determined to kick up a storm about how this wasn't what they thought they were ordering.

(August 27) Edit: Just finished reading the guidelines, so far I think I might not be violating any rules, except for the gif photo that I've posted here which I've taken down and replaced with a non-moving png 🙂 If I did misunderstand the guidelines please let me know so that I don't do this again. Thank you so much!

Given I have a few unplayed games sitting on my shelf, my will save has gotten pretty high on these.
