Car scale for miniatures

Recommended Posts

I have three of those ice cream trucks, one of which has been converted for postapocalypse action. I find the idea of a combat ice cream truck hilarious.

I was bitterly disappointed in the VW microbus, though... one look, and I knew it was just too honkin' big.

Yeah. I just REALLY wanted a VW bus.

Actually, want I REALLY want is a VW Westfalia camper van cause my parents and grandparents both had them when I was younger.

Haven't seen any in miniature though.

Premium Classixxs appears to make a 1/43 VW Westfalia camper van.

Thanks for checking into that Pingo. It appears they have done some limited editions. I'm thinking they'd be pricey. I've avoided the higher prices collectable stores that carry model cars, but maybe I'll pop in to one just for a peek.

I think the ice cream truck and the SWAT vehicle are pretty close to scale, the Volkswagens are looking a bit too big to me now. Especially the Beetle.

Yeah... the real VW Bus is just a tad over 6' high, so the miniature should be almost as tall as the vehicle, but that mini is much smaller than the bus you have.

Every single time, I read the topic title as Car Sale for miniatures...and I'm like where? where?

Sigh...

image.thumb.jpeg.dde3e1acfac73bc0130bc135552e3007.jpegCan't believe it's been almost a year since I last posted in this thread. I would've sworn it was just a couple months.

However, knowing that a year has passed does help kind of explain how this happened...

So, now you have some repainting /weathering and modding to do..

Looks like a nice collection.

Opens up a whole can of possibilities for diorama building or to add to a wargame table.

I see someone picked up 20 toy cars.

Good information in this thread.

Now, can someone direct me, or point in a general direction, where I can pick up early 1900's-1930's era vehicles? I would like them for my Call of Cthulhu game.

Thanks a bunch.

Generally the same places as the modern.  They will have vintage cars from the 20's, 40's 50's and 60's besides modern.  Mostly the high end, but some at the low end.  Pickup trucks are very popular.

The drugstore displays sometimes have 1930s models.  I haven't seen earlier ones.

There is a website called 3000toys where you can search by scale and era.  They can be pricey, though, and it looks like at the moment they don't have anything earlier than the Second World War in 1:48 scale.

My local Walgreens has some of those... But only the modern ones. Unfortunately, most of the ones they have are just a bit off for miniature use - the ones that were the perfect size were the modern middle-class vehicles like minivans, rather than police/fire/military or classic cars...

I started collecting them for modern and post apocalyptic and/or zombie survival games. Initially I was thinking of games like Zombicide, Mars Attacks, or Project Z but now I'm thinking Mantics The Walking Dead game.

My plan is to have enough vehicles and buildings for several locations like a small town mainstreet, an industrial area, a street in the suburbs, a rural area with a farm.

And I've come to find out that I have a really hard time coming to terms with damaging or weathering a perfectly good toy vehicle.

I do have a couple of duplicates including one that I accidentally broke, and then had to buy a replacement for, so we'll see if I can convince myself to give it a try.

Yep... Well the start of 20 anyway.

I also have 20 motorcycles but I only pictured the ones I unpackaged so far.

RAFM's Call of Cthulhu range has several vehicles to go with their investigators and opponents.
