lstormhammer
Alright, gang. I'm looking for SF-related miniatures. Tanks mostly. Something I can paint up and practice my matte-greens and cammo jobs. I would like something in a comperable CAV/B-tech size. I'd preferably like something that looks like it could happen. --I'm not picky, I just know what I'm looking for. --lstormhammer
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted October 1, 2002 Author Moderator Share Posted October 1, 2002 Look for Perrin Miniatures. They might be slightly smaller-scale than CAV, but I've seen a lot of really nice-looking infantry and takns by them.
wolf
Frosch, aren't the Gropos tanks about the same scale too??
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted October 1, 2002 Author Moderator Share Posted October 1, 2002 yes, but I don't like them as much, so I didn't mention them.
Chrome
I loooooove Gropos. Just finished painting up a pair of APC's from the line last night. Any of you who are interested in them should know that AoG's Babylon 5 license expires on Oct 31st and they can't make/sell any more figs after that date. In fact, they have to destoy all of the ones that they have left in stock. They're having a big 30% off sale, now through the end of the month if you're interested in getting some before they're OOP. http://www.agentsofgaming.com
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted October 1, 2002 Author Moderator Share Posted October 1, 2002 Hey wow, that would explain the 50% sales they were having at Origins. Chrome, do you know if anyone is going to pick up the license from them?
Ghost Rider
That's how I got all of the Starsiege: Rebellion figs. AoG lost the liscense and then liquidated everything. btw if you can find them the SS:rebellion tanks, hovertanks, and motorcycles are pretty "doable" in the near future if not now. They work great for tech or cav, though they may be a bit small for cav.
smokingwreckage
www.dldproductions.com for some tanks to escort that 'Tator into battle- o wait, you meant REGULAR CAV size, not extra-extra large :)
lstormhammer
Mostly, I'm looking for slick minis comperable to CAV/B-tech so I can paint them up, put them on a field, and watch my opposition crumble because their precious and dear Battlemechs are in the cruel hands of a mad minute from the longtoms on the lv2 hill. So when they're sitting their with their pants around their ankles, I'll bring in the APC's, disgourge the engineers, and Swarm to Control. --I will crush them! Crush them I say!!!! --lstormhammer
smokingwreckage
That last post was kinda sexy. Anyway, ralpartha europe? oh, fortress figs www.fortressfigures.com iir, does some that might be in-scale, and in bulk too if it's anything like their usual. But it's prolly also in resin. lstormhammer
I've got no qualms about resin/metal/plastic. I want it to be a good model first, then the material its made out of a far, far second. Mind you, If I do B-tech, I'm already at a disadvantage: B-tech is all about those precious, delicate battlemechs. Let's not worry about the logistics of a multi-billion dollar machine, and how many mechanized infintry that could feed and supply.... --lstormhammer
smokingwreckage
You can win with vehicles. Position, psition position.
Chrome
AoG didn't lose the B5 license, Warner Brothers (or whoever it is that owns B5) chose not to extend it because there is no longer any TV show. By their train of thought, no tv show means no fans and no sense in keeping a miniatures game. So AoG didn't do anything wrong, WB just doesn't want anything out there reminding people that there was once a show called Babylon 5. Ghost Rider
That's a shame too. The B5wars and gropos was a main part of AoG. hopefully they won't suffer too badly from this. they are a bunch of pretty good guys.
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted October 1, 2002 Author Moderator Share Posted October 1, 2002 Well gosh. How stupid is that? lstorm, what game system are you looking to use these in? From your posts, it looks like you're just trying to build "a sci-fi army".
