You know Im a fan of the larger peaces.  I would mind some 8x8 floors.  That would be great.  Also those long walls.  I would mind longer elevations peices to go with.  To make it 2x2 or 3x3 and such.

I mostly like to be able to show elevation with the interior.  But it would be nice to have like a fort wall or something.

I'm not really into the walls. They're super expensive and I can already make something passably similar. I'm really liking the Trays and 8x8 floors. Though I hope the trays end up being as stable as the UpWorks mockups looked. I'm a little afraid these will be brittle, since they're made with the new Dwarvenite-G.

Edit to Add: But even if they don't work out, Dwarven Forge's customer service would probably take care of it. They're top notch.

They've added an Add-Ons only pledge level: pay $20 shipping and get whatever add-ons you want. They've also added 3 new mountain add ons:

  • Mountain Peak, with some ramps and "peak stuff" that would be good for cliffs as well $34
  • Mount Floor  2 8x8's for 18. I *think* these will have peg holes on the bottom so you can use CBS pegs to elevate them.
  • Mountain Bridge - two magnetic ramps, magnetic arches, and extenders $17

All of these are quite attractive to me.  I've had this week of so I'm finally painting my CBS stuff. Holding off on the tudor since I don't want to mix my own brown and stucco paints, but most of the stone stuff is done. And man I love it. I really feel they knocked the CBS  stuff out of the park.

Things I'm excited about from this KS:

  • Cliff / Mountain pieces greatly increase my Caverns collection utility
  • Trays make multier builds with KS 1 and KS 2 builds much less fiddly. (I hope (and expect) these will be their own add-on.)  Am I the only one who actually likes having the larger pieces and finds large builds with the 2x2's to be quite fiddly?
  • Love the extensible wall design --- I see these pieces as extending the utility of the dungeon stuff, whereas a lot of people can't seem to imagine using them to build anything other than a castle. Similarly, the flexible/extensible tower floors are quite nice. I'd like to see if there are interesting ways the towers can be combined with previous KS stuff.
  • Looking forward to combining the CBS and Castle pieces to have square towers and keeps
  • *LOVE* the staircase design allowing me to "hook" a broccoli base under a step so that minis can actually stand on steps that are appropriately sized.
  • Pretty sure the gatehouse floor can be swapped out for CBS floor, and the could be a trap-door in any CBS build.
  • Looking forward to seeing how the platforms (for crenelations to rest on) can be used in other ways... maybe to form a poor man's bridge or docks for my gaming table.
  • I see these being used not just as castle walls, but city walls and gates, and outposts and various other defenses; especially in combination with the mountain packs.

I do wish there was more SG for your money, and I do not agree with their policy of not reveal what a stretch goal is until its unlocked (because it defeats the purpose of the word goal), but overall I see a ton of good stuff here that is more flexible than a lot of people are giving it credit for.

The mountain stuff is looking awesome! That bridge add-on too!

The add ons always hit me hard. My plan this time is to pledge for the highest base pledge I can justify/afford, then add on other stuff later. Similar to what I did in KS3.

They've added an Add-Ons only pledge level: pay $20 shipping and get whatever add-ons you want.

That is big news for a DF KS.

The pledge total was dropping for several hours on Friday -- they were down between 7 to 9 thousand dollars at one point.  So the add-ons only pledge level on Friday may have been a response to that, and it meant that Friday didn't end with a negative showing.

I have never used castles much in my games but I am in at the Watchtower level.  I like the looks of it and can use parts of it as round rooms with my dungeons.

I keep looking at the big pledges and thinking how much fun it would be to play with all the stuff but for now I have more $ pledged for non castle add-ons since the outdoor items and bridge are going to get used all the time in my games.

Actually, going by their very own pledge calculator .... the add-on pledge is more like "pay $20 for the pledge level, pay $38 shipping to EU and then add whatever you want" --- which looks like "pay $58 before you can get anything at all"?

Yeah, the shipping to other countries is still pretty brutal, but my understanding is they've done something of a better job making it accessible this year. Still nowhere near as nice as it is for US backers. At least they promise to pay Customs & Duties up front this time.

Unfortunately that is my view of the pledge only level right now, though it is 38 for Japan. Then add in the actual add-on shipping.

Adding in that 10 to 20 dollars all the time is a killer for me.

I also agree with kodiakbear, some of the add-ons are great and far more versatile than the main stuff.

I see myself at watchtower plus rampart plus add-ons at the moment.

I think it had started going back up before then. In fact, that level sat at 0 backers for at least a few hours after they were already above the point where they'd started going downward, if my memory serves. My guess is the release of the 3 mountain packs helped Friday finish strong and Saturday stay somewhat strong. But it's still going to be slow going toward that small tower pack unless something else changes in the next few days.
