Fulfilling DeepWars - Blood Reef

Yeah, this is the 3rd or 4th miniatures crowdfunder we've pledged for in as many months and it is adding up. 

 

We're in for a Captain level and 4 additional nereids ($85), I get 1 point from a previous pledge.  The jump to $100 is tempting since the additional 2 points basically doubles the additional $15.   But we don't play, only paint, and have a lot of the older models already, so there's no desire to go in really big.  Will have to wait and see what the next 3 weeks bring.  IIRC the post-funding period where you could add stuff went on forever last time.

It might be worth asking, but I expect the $100 free points only apply to an initial pledge and not post campaign additions.

I agree that the whale carcass is probably going to be crazy unique and undoubtedly gorgeous.  The price tag hurts though.. in CAD that's pushing $70 plus shipping for a single piece of scenery.  As much as I want it, I'll have to pass on it.  The Shark and DM Leviathan seems like my wheelhouse price-wise.

yeah, the carcass is pretty pricey. I want all the nereids so itll probably have to wait until i build a proper abyssal zone board for me, too (unless we get some isopod and lamprey swarms to go with it and "spice the pot").  I'm currently building a "blood reef"  board (which I plan on making as epic as possible) so I'll settle for the doom clam and the objective markers as my terrain this time around .

Next time.

 

Edit: I do plan on using the bones 3 statue of dagon for my game board, which should fit the vibe really well.

The more I think about it, the more I want some more terrain. It will likely see use at the table for a number of games...and it will look nice in the display case.

Will Save failed further. Pledge increased to Battle Set for a decent increase in value per point. Now I need to figure out what I will likely choose to get with those points...

 

ETA: According to my Antimatter Evernote Notebook, I own 15 Dark Mariners and 7 Fortune Hunters plus 3 terrain pieces. I may need to try and bulk those numbers up...

The EU friendly thing is pretty cool too. should help our international friends with the paint of VAT.

I swung by Michael's tonight and picked up some inks to try out the paint tutorial. I didn't realize until I got home that the browns have the word transparent in them. Is this the right stuff? It is Liquitex brand.

Still debating the increase to $100.  Would really like to see the mantis sculpt, but I think we're too far out at the moment.

If we reach $25k and 200 backers that $100 pledge (at any level) gets an additional 2 free points. you could put that towards one of the "centerpiece" minis, which would surely be fun to paint

Well the last few hours have been productive! This thing is on a roll! A $100 pledge gets four bonus points plus another if you backed high enough previously! 

 

I am staying at the $130 level and feeling like I am getting a smoking deal! (The higher pledge levels are an even better deal!).
