Lemme see, off to a rough start this month :( (had an ER visit with my youngest - he's ok, thank God, but yeah it kinda shot my weekend)

Anyway back on topic, sorry!

I am planning to do:

- remainder of my BaC box (~37 space marines)

- my exchange miniature

- whatever Wyrd figure is appropriate for Wyrd's Iron painter competition, starting 3/14

bonus goals (assuming I get to them)

- put together my manufactorum (40k terrain piece), possibly even painting it

all else will be as God wills lol

So, close to the wire here, but next week I have off (Kids' spring break, if you can ever truly have time off with 3 kids home...)

Progress toward my goals:

- 5 more Space Marines done (32 to go)

- exchange mini is in final highlights stage then just need base and a day or two to leave it so I can see all the mistakes I'll have to correct lol

- Wyrd Iron Painter miniature is a two mini "scene" theme for Round 1 is "Pretty in Pink", almost done basecoating both figures

I've gotten into the hobby equivalent of 'If you give a mouse a cookie'.

I painted some models, and wanted to take pictures of them, but I wanted a new Hirst Arts 'backdrop' for them.

So, I went to make it, but saw that I was missing a few key pieces.

So, I started casting molds, but since it's about as time efficient to cast four or five at the same time as one, I quickly overloaded myself with new pieces.

So, I needed to buy some new plano boxes to store all these castings.

So, now that I have these plano boxes, I've decided to re-sort and rearrange how I store all of my pieces from my dozen-ish molds.

Still need to make that backdrop, then paint it up... but I'm only something like three figures behind on my 'finish 10 in March', which I can definitely get finished in the new few nights!

I finally have all the supplies I need to start my mini sealing tests to withstand constant water immersion! I started that a month ago...

So my mini related goals are:

  • Finish painting and sealing the test pieces, then set up the tests! I'll be checking on them in September.
  • Spring Exchange!
  • Start painting at least one other thing ::):

Not mini related, I want to make a plushie, a kigurumi (it's like a big onesie but animal themed), and keep up with my daily drawings.

Wow, I thought I got way more done this month, but I guess not!

I ended up not sealing the other test pieces - I'm just going to let the ones with Reaper sealer sit in water for several months. The other sealers I bought online had a whole dictionary of DANGER warnings, so I was really paranoid about combining them with anything else....

Spring Exchange is nearly done!

I've got primer on a few pieces and started to put together a dragon with some extra GS I had one day.

I didn't make a plushie first - that was supposed to be my test run for the kigu. I'll still make it one day, though. The kigu would be done but I never got my free test swatches for my faux fabric! I've just been running around the house in it without a hood or tail, haha. It's so soft and fleecey  I might take a photo and throw it in my art thread here.

Daily drawings... I'm at about a 50% success rate this month, but I've drawn a lot on each of those days. Not the habit I want to create, buuuut baby steps. ::):

As of 3/17, I've painted: The mummy captain, mummy warrior, and 5 plain old mummies, as well as a female wizard and a ranger. So that's 6.5 done, with my six guardsman's faces done, with the rest following soon, which will bring me to 9.5 by the end of this weekend...

Okay, since that I've also done some sneaky thief lady, which is 7.5, and then I've actually been effort painting these guardsman, so they're counting for full. 2 of them done, which is 9.5, with the third scheduled to be finished tomorrow.

So yeah, on track! Plus I even spent most of a week working on Hirst Arts stuff instead of painting, which is a bonus!

Holy crap, I actually accomplished goals this month.  It's a miracle!

  1. Take inventory of CAV Wave 2
  2. Boil at least some of them
  3. Assemble what was boiled

And 3 will be done tonight...two of the BSRs hadn't dried completely from boiling by the time I went to bed.  More might hit the factory floor, dunno.

The casualty list:

  • 2x Tsuiseki
  • 2x Kraken
  • 4x Malefactor
  • 4x Wolf
  • 4x Dingo
  • 2x Naginata
  • 2x Despot
  • 2x Chieftain
  • 2x Tsukai
  • 2x Warden
  • 1x Emperor
  • 1x Katana
  • 1x Archer [drying]
  • 1x Thunderbird [drying]
