Fabulous Force! GW space marine

Recommended Posts

I've been working on my Fabulous Force and so far I gotta say they're turning out better than I expected. But there's so much room for them to be better... For example, while the whole point of these guys is to be PINK!!! I can't help but find it a bit too monotonous. Especially on the back. It probably wouldn't take much to accent it and break up the pink a bit, I'm just not sure what to do. Opinions would be very appreciated, on any aspect of the mini.

Suggestion: Purple Aquila, purple eyes, purple skull on the backpack.

Aaaaaand... yeah, why not? Purple gun.

Makes it purple rain all up in here.

Red Liner.

This guy desperately needs Red Liner.

The Red Liner cannot go into production soon enough.

** goes to check online store to see if it is already available **

I'm gonna go back to Walmart and see if I can find more insane metallics. This initial squad is definitely gonna be all pink, but yeah, there should be more. ::D:

I didn't even know there was a pink paint that shiny.

I know, right?! It's amazing. Came from Walmart, i believe. It's wonderful.

The pink suit reminds me of Gru's space suit in Despicable Me!  Loving it!

I'd second the suggestions of purple.  Realistically, though, you could play with the idea of having pink (with silver) as the standard look and then an accent (the skull on the back or wrist guards, for example) in a different color for each soldier.  Let's face it, we all have those random colors that are excessively rarely useful, so why not take this as an excuse to use them!

EDIT:   And if you can use Green Stuff to add a bow tie, hair bow, tutu, Flava flave clock necklace, etc., that's only going to make them more fabulous!

If you want the pink to pop more (I don't judge ... much  ), you might try something like a dark green accent.

Dark green tiger stripes on the pink would be ... remarkable.

A judicious application of some red ink in some of the cracks and crevices maybe? I would say red wash but then you would have to go to the trouble of getting most of it back to pink.

ETA: He looks Mahvuhluss!

So, will they be getting Barbie's magical dream rhino?

" Barbie" is the call-sign of the rhino driver...

Aqua or sea foam green, really any pastel-y blue green would work with the pink. I agree on purple, purple and pink worked for Miss Piggy and she's been a space pig so should work for your squad.

At the moment I'm not exactly starved for projects (I've actually got a long list taped to my desk), but what I really wanted was something quick and easy. Luckily one of the projects on that list fit the bill perfectly so my third Imperial Guard joke squad has started.

Unlike my "Fabulous" squad or even my Tau defectors this is a more nuanced joke. Instead of painting battle hardened Cadiens I'll be painting a squad of the Planetary Defense Force. GW lore is a funny thing whenever comparisons are made as any player can tell you. So while the Imperial Guard especially the Cadiens are "elite" warriors completely at home on the battlefield the Planetary Defense Forces are easily killed cannon fodder living the cushy good life on Imperial worlds. The PDF act as peacekeepers and the first line of defense during any attack and they usually end up dying in droves (not unlike the actual Guard).

The only real difference at least on the actual tabletop will come down to color scheme. I've decided a peacekeeper's color scheme would work well and I've come up with two options.
I think I prefer the blue tunic with the grey armor, but the reverse could work too. I figure I'll just sleep on it and decide tomorrow with fresh eyes, but I'm open to any thoughts/ideas.

I painted some minis from the Kill Team: Rogue Trader box. They are originally a nurglish warband called the Gellerpox Infected, but I will use them in my Swampstalkers army for Kings of War.
The second line in the big unit is made of Titan Forge ogre pirates mixed with parts of the Reaper's Crab Man (SKU:44110). They are all now Butchers, and they also have the dedicated hero for them (Fleshripper, one with the cleaver ). Smaller guys are Horrors, wizards in my army.

I painted this GW's Lord of Plagues as a hero for my Swampstalkers. He is now the Swamp Drinker, one of the Reapers  (the unit I showed recently).

And this Morphus from the (unfortunately) defunct Enigma Models was actually painted few years ago. I found him in my display cabinet and though he would make for a nice Swamp Hunter, another hero for my army.  So, here he is, with just a new base

I bought these 16 converted nurgle warriors for my Swampstalkers army and added two Reaper minis (battleguard golem 77169 and Anval Thricedamned, Evil Warrior 77055) to get 3 bases with 6 warriors each.
