Ehh. I dunno. I like my trolls and ogres with a bit more meat on them.

The old Monster Manual description of Loathsome Trolls was 'Thin and Rubbery' - as opposed to Loathsome Drolls who were 'Dim and Blubbery' in one of the early issues of Dragon.... (I remember it from the Best of Dragon volume 1.)

The Auld Grump

Mmmmyeah.

The ancient Monster Manual description is lifted straight from Three Hearts and Three Lions, by Poul Anderson, whose trolls looked rather lanky for their height, but had knotted muscles that could tear you apart. This model has been made by several manufacturers, most recently Wizkids, who gave him dreadlocks, for some reason.

The skinny trolls from GW and Fortress Figures, on the other hand,  always looked like the other trolls would kick sand in their faces....

Yeah, that's based on the 5E art and I don't know why they went with dreads. Maybe they couldn't think of anything else to make their hair look matted, and didn't want to go with the classic "Marge Simpson" doo.

I'm kinda bummed the only troll minis I have are from the recent-ish board games... so I got these big brawny beasts... Guess I can use em as "fell trolls" or something.

That guy is almost four inches tall to the top of his head. Twenty feet scale is kind of a bad choice to kick sand at, as he stands up, and up, and up.

Huge, not Large for D&D and Pathfinder. BIG guy.

Dreadlocks? Hey, mon, I gots de munchies real bad. Then eats your mule.

Okay, definitely not a Rasta troll.

Too bad, he would have been fun.
