CAV Kickstarter WIP - Edster's

I decided to post a WIP on some of the vehicles I currently have on the table. After a few hours with my sons emptying all the bags and building the tanks I selected a reasonable batch to paint up.

 

 

These were then washed and straightened prior to being given an undercoat of grey primer. The model lines were cleaned up on a few, but given these are for tabletop use I am not too fussy with them as they are not too bad.

 

I continued with the earlier smaller batch of Terran vehicles at the moment I am doing batches of four models.

 

These were painted green, highlighted and then given a dark green wash to add depth prior to a final quick dry brush.

 

 

And finally with the window glass painted and highlighted.

 

 

As always comments welcome, not sure yet of the total numbers required for a game for these in CAV but will be using the models.

That's my dry brush area. I bought the TV dinner table as I don't have a permanent painting area.

Some more progress on these models tonight. The Terran vehicles had a few more details and items picked out once again I am keeping the colour choice limited but I may need to add something else into the mix at some point.

 

The final shots following a coat of gloss and Matt varnish. These will be posted in a show off thread in due course.

 

 

And here is the next group of Terran vehicles with a base coat already applied.

It's been quite a few days since I have posted anything here. But progress has been made. I've been sticking to the paint scheme but added some additional yellow to the scheme to make it look a bit more colourful.

 

 

 

 

Here is the Terran army to date.

Some more progress on these models, and another 8 painted. So this bring the total forces up to a nice even number. Here are a few shots of the work so far.

The next batch is back onto some Terran vehicles.

Eventhough I don't play games and only play for display...seeing a massive army painted up appeals to me.

 

I like these.

 

I 'd like to see some pics when these are arrayed in terrain.

One day I am trying top paint some reasonable numbers for the moment. I will aim to make some 10/15mm terrain.

More progress on these models. This has been a quick batch of models to paint now I have the scheme nailed down.

 

 

First of all the models are painted with Loren Forest, this is then followed by a green ink wash. The models are given a drybrush of Straken Green.

 

I chose to paint models in batches.

 

 

 

Here is the completed scheme.

 

 

The next three pics show the process for the remaining five of the six tank unit.

As always I get too engaged with the painting process and forget to take some step by step photographs.

 

But here is the Green Terran army so far to date.

 

 

The next batch is for the Rach.

Nice! (although there is a significant lack of Big Stompy Robots!).  How bad was the plane?  Mine are still pretty bendy even after a boil.

 

Funny that were are doing them in pretty much the same order.  

Just prepped some Rach over the weekend for my wife to (hopefully) paint.

The plane is flimsy compared to the others but holds up quite well, I really count complain too much as the detail is all there. I had to boiled mine twice and put it into ice water for it to stick.

 

There are a few more Rach planes and tanks to do and then it is on to the first batch of mechs.
