April 2016 Hobby/Painting Goals

Recommended Posts

Okay....  so I have an addiction to getting new minis it appears.  I may end up in Figmentius yet

So, Russian evil Dwarves arrived.  My goal for April was assembly and getting their movement tray sorted.  That is done as of today.  (Again!).

Now, painting goals:

My goal is to paint 5 minis from the any manufacturer to a reasonable standard.  Probably going to have some Bones and OOP minis painted this month.

Non-painting goals:

Participate in my FLGS's monthly Warmachine Tournament.

My son just received the Pathfinder Beginner Box (thank you Humble Bundle): Maybe a game of Pathfinder if he can round up two friends to play.

And my younger son and I will be playing a game of Advanced Song of Blades and Heroes or two this month.

Still looking like no mini painting this month. Both classes wrapping up in the middle of the month, have to submit stuff for the art show. Probably will have to finish the portrait at home, doubtful I'll have time in class with all that's left to finish!

Might be some possibility toward the end of the month to get in some mini painting, though.

Well, I did "finish" the portrait for the show, as well as putting in a round of finish on a class drawing in my nascent home studio, so the first drawing to come out of there is also hanging in the show :)

Not a bad month so far!

I might fire up my airbrush finally. Watched the (awesome) video from teh Badger dude who said don't use cleaning kits, need to at least review and takes notes on his video before trying it out...

Think I'll try it out on priming the Bones Avatar of Sokar for the paint along on FB. Do it black and then zenithal white...and then see where it goes if I like that...

I lost access to my work space for most of this weekend while replacement windows were installed around the house. The "glass half full" version of this is that I cleaned up the space considerably, but still want to do some more as long as it's that close. An organizational reset wouldn't be painting, but might enable more painting later...

Anyway, still six knights and last month's unit to finish basing. Two new units plus the completion sounds like a good goal...

And at least the completion received it's final varnish coat yesterday. There has been paint added to the first new unit, the six knights mentioned...

Slight update:

I've completed 4 miniatures of the 5 goal.  I'm very pleased with my progress this month.  No pressure on me for any of this, so it is moving very well.

My son has rounded up 3 friends (and his little brother) to play Pathfinder, so I have to schedule that.  I'm painting up the 4 characters from the beginner box right now, maybe I'll end up with 8 minis painted this month!

EDIT (another update, no need for another spam-ish post):

I have added 8 miniatures painted to my total. Total:  2 evil dwarves, a mounted and dismounted knight (two figures), the four pathfinder beginner box minis, and four of the dwarves from Hammer & Forge.  That's quite a bit after a long-ish stretch of barely getting anything done.
