Recommended Posts

Refund, but alas it has been scattered to the 4 winds or at some of it went to helping the Oregon Coast's economy ::D:

(Really I don't mind....)

And technically, breaking even or paying is a happier thing than getting a refund, since you've floating Uncle Sam an interest-free loan if you get a refund.

Not relevant to me as I'm not in the US.  Hope you are all getting good news though!

Totally annoying subject because even though I don't live in the US, I still have to file a tax return. The US and some little African country (Eritrea) are the only countries in the world to tax citizens not based on residency. So, while I did not owe (I don't work right now), I still get to pay an accountant to make sure I am compliant every year. Ugh!

Oh, for you history buffs, the non-resident citizen based taxation came into play during the Civil War because people were fleeing the US and going to Europe to escape the war. The US needed to fund the war so passed a law to still be able to tax the non-resident citizens.

::D: Did my taxes last week, got a decent refund but my small survivors' pension cut it in half.  ::(:

I'm glad I live in a country that just deducts the tax straight out of your wages. the US tax system sounds like a nightmare.

I don't have a good answer to this weekend's question but it has gotten me thinking that Kirk, Spock and co has set up an unsustainable future in Star Trek IV. With only the one mother whale and her two offspring in their time, there are going to be some major recessive genes coming out in humpback whales in their future. Maybe Inwould reserve my resurrection scroll for them to use.

Eugenics are only forbidden on sentients.

...but in IV the whales were considered sentient?

    • By TGP
      The roolz:

      The obligatory rules posting:

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. If I fail to post a question, Inara (possibly) will post a question of her own choice.
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted between 6AM and 8AM EST
3.5 (Rule 3 may be the 2nd most broken rule.)
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me.
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why are always fun).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day challenges, often starting on Fridays.

Greetings forum things! Once again, I, the Griffin of Grumpiness snag the tattered robe of the Quisitor in my beak for this the ninth month of Old Rome's calendar and also the month all Turkeys Dread!

      Question for Thursday, Nov 1st:
Halloween is behind us, how long will you tolerate the decorations thereof?

When do yours (if you had some) get stowed away for next year?

      Step 0

Penny ^ ...New model in blister. ^

This guy is big enough to take up the footprint of four infantry skeletons. The penny is 19mm diameter. The plan is to give the figure a 40mm square, equivalent to four 20x20 bases arranged in a square.

He will count as four members of the unit he'll be assigned to.
