This is a speed painted repaint of an old Mage knight figure; I think it was the 'feral bloodsucker'. It looked like a werebat to me, so that's what he became. I did the figure in perhaps an hour and a half (not including basing, lotta glue and different materials there). I just painted right over the original paint job (there wasn't really much there to begin with). I did this guy while I was waiting for some green stuff to dry on a different project.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks, everyone.

I like it, and I like the new avatar too!

( come to think of it.,, my colored wolf and yours have the same pose..)

Thank you, on both counts.

And I think you're right...

Yea for mage knight repaints! Did you just prime over the original paint job?

Glad you like it!

I just painted straight over the existing paint job, no primer.

I read that as "Mage Knight wombat". Haha! I guess it is bedtime! He is cool and would be a scary fellow for adventurers to run into!

The hazards of living in Oz. ..

Don't get me wrong. A Mage Knight wombat would also be scary! Ok, scary and really cute! Ok, maybe just cute.

This Mage Knight WEREBAT is scary!

You'll take my life, but I'll take yours too
You'll fire your musket, but I'll run you through
So when you're waiting for the next attack
You'd better stand, there's no turning back

I'm going to be building/converting/sculpting my own copy of Eddie from this artwork. I'm just going to do the central figure, not the battlefield around him.

For those who don't know, the song 'The Trooper' is based on the Charge of the Light Brigade, an action during the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War.

So, before I get started, a question:

The artist who did this piece (Derek Riggs) applied a little creative license to the flag that Eddie is carrying. It is not historically accurate to the best of my knowledge and research. If you know differently, please enlighten me.

When I get to that point, do I try to recreate the flag as seen in the artwork, or go with something a little more accurate? Or is that a detail that most people will not notice?

Finished my first mini this year, and oddly enough it was a speedpaint, taking just over an hour...

On the flipside, some of those colours work together really, REALLY well, like Sunrise Orange and Heart Throb Paint.

I have put together a warband, mainly Reaper models, for use in Saga Age of Magic, Frostgrave, Oathmark etc.
The winged vampires were quite simple to paint. Primed with Israeli grey from Vallejo, then drybrushed with Rakarth flesh and Pallid Wych flesh. Then a wash of carroburg crimson and a highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh.

The armoured vampires are mainly crimson knights from Reaper with a couple of head swaps but mostly straight and un-kitbashed. They were primed with Vallejo red brown then I used contrast flesh tearers red and a bunch of washes for the armour.

I enjoyed painting these and the next step is to add some more winged vampires/succubi, and some mounted vampire knights.

Here's 2 beetle swarms that I knocked out pretty quick this weekend.

One basic brown, and the other with a more metallic look to them.

Let me know what you think.

I finished Mason Thornwarden a little earlier today. He's painted up to a (hopefully) decent tabletop standard. I've been reading a lot about Rangers of Shadowdeep on various blogs all over the internet; I can neither confirm nor deny that is what may have led to his selection for the paintbrush.

Let me know what you think of him, please.
