Interested in the game, but that hammer just looks stupid in my opinion. Didn't get very far into Dark Souls, keep meaning to go back to it (I blame minecraft).

Dark Souls of all the games that have enormous impractical weapons does among the best job of showing how dumb they are in general principle, and in using them effectively to convey a narrative. Smough, the hammer's wielder, is a completely unrefined cannibal who wishes to become a knight. As such he is given a huge impractical and crude weapon that only one as enormous as himself could even hope to wield.

And it still looks stupid and makes me as someone interested in this board game (I love KD:M) a lot less interested in it because the mini shown is undesirable.

So that's probably not good, unless you want to limit yourself to the nexus of board gamers who like miniatures who played Dark Souls.

It's Dark Souls, easy decision to back before I read anymore.

I always thought Smoughs hammer was based off a Mochi hammer with the offset handle as a nod towards his using it to pound bones down into feed.

I'm sorry if you don't like it, but Dark Souls is super popular and this game is trying to fill the demand for Dark Souls minis which has existed basically since the game came out. Smough and Ornstein are among the game's most iconic bosses and it would feel weird if they were absent. Here's a quick rundown of other popular bosses who will also almost certainly be in the game.

Great grey Wolf Sif

Gravelord Nito (could not find a render due to how dark his room is, so concept art will have to do)

So, erm, the campaign's live, by the way. Funded in 3 minutes too (and already funding stretch goals faster than they can update the front page). I wonder how a proportion of the backers less familiar with the usual kickstarter process will react when the mid campaign slump arrives. It'll possibly come sooner given how front end heavy the initial rush seems to be.

I'm trying to talk myself into backing it ... but ...

- a number of those miniatures does not really do it for me

- they have to get an "ok" from Namco Bandai for every single concept art / miniature? That's why - despite all the stretch goals being down - they can't put up the new ones?

- some stretch goals / add-ons are "retailer only"?

Not interested in this but the comments are amazing lol.

They have retail exclusive content to allow flgs to sell content after the game is released so that flgs don't hate KS (they won't be limited everyone can buy them from their local game store or online)

People either love or hate this. Verbally hate this.

I saw this. It's an interesting idea. I kind of like it personally. It stops me from buying things arguably I don't need. Or at least doesn't make it seem like you need to buy everything all at once.

I get why they want to try and make retail feel included so it's not one of those games that then struggles to have a presence in stores afterwards, but I also get that it has the feeling for everyone else that you are backing something so that you can then buy it later. It'll depend if they put up anything else in the regular stretch goals around the £200k mark as well (which funding wise it's already hitting)

The retail exclusive thing is a weirdly written piece of pointlessness. They are items that you can't add during the kickstarter so that you buy them at retail, but actually you can add them in the pledge manager... So basically they are part of the kickstarter, you can add them during the kickstarter, and they will come with the rest of the kickstarter. The one thing keeping them from being identical to any other kickstarter add on seems to be they aren't saying the price until after the kickstarter ends.

-Actually I think I may have read that wrong. Only retail backers can add them in the pledge manager?

It's the latter, only retail backers can add them in the pledge manager. That whole section has been quietly reworded and the graphic for the First Giant at $200k has disappeared.

Interesting (at least to me): retailer pledge level gives you 6 copies (but not eligible for the normal stretch goals?) and free shipping worldwide. That means that one copy costs about 34pounds for a retailer (NO stretchgoals). One copy costs 80Pounds for a normal backer (with stretchgoals) ... I understand that retailers pay less when they order such games - after all, they have to make a living, too. But looking at the difference between retailer and backer, I kind of feel that the stretch goals of the backers are not as free as it might seem.

Another thought: How much do you think the basic game will cost street price retail? 50Pounds? 60Pounds?

Again that means the stretch goals must be worth at least 30 pounds - otherwise waiting for retail and buying everything (even the "free" stretch goals) then is the better strategy.

This may be true for every project that does not offer lots of exclusives, but it was never so obvious to me before ... or am I mistaken, did I overlook something?
