Sirithiliel
Thanks. Thankfully, my mother-in-law should be able to get out in a week. They're putting her on powerful steroids via IV to try and get her lungs cleared and the cough gone

Sirithiliel
Aww thank you guys for the lovely flowers. And i admit i could really use them tonight, it hasn't been a good day, so double thank you My mother in law is doing well, they still dont' know why she's coughing so much but she's at least improving. my mother came to visit for a while (she and my mother-in-law get along quite well) but she did share more about my step-father that I didn't know, and it doesn't sound good for him. She's looking into a malpractice lawsuit, but they have to see this second doctor first (appointment is in 4 weeks). He's losing about 3 lbs a week, has lost over 90 now. Went from being 65 pounds over weight to 20 pounds underweight It looks like a nerve was cut during the surgery. He has no feeling on the left side of his face other than pins and needles. He can't swallow well, and anything touching that side of his face, inside or out, is painful. Which is why eating/drinking/talking hurts him so much. Due to the weight loss he has little energy and stamina, barely eats or drinks anything, and my mother has her doubts he will last the 4 weeks until his appointment, while he's adamant about waiting to see that doctor and not going to see anyone else despite the chronic pain he's in so thanks again for hte flowers, because i admit i got fairly upset hearing just how bad it is for him, and they are so pretty
canuckotter
Sympathy liked. I hope your step father gets help quickly. Any chance that meal replacement shakes like Ensure might help? Still a problem for him I'm sure but it'd maybe be easier to get a reasonable amount of nutrition quickly and less painfully that way? I'm glad the flowers helped at least a little!

I'm glad the flowers helped at least a little! from what i understand, the problem with Ensure and protien shakes is that they are too thick for him right now, and dairy is iffy because it makes excess mucus or something like that in his throat and makes it even more difficult and they did ^^ thank you. It's so nice of you all

Pingo
Coconut milk maybe? It's nutritious, loaded with calories.

It's so nice of you all Just a thought - I've used meal replacement shakes in the past.... if you mix a bit too much water with them they become REALLY runny which might help get it down? Also - you can buy protein powders etc in shops with no thickeners added. These mix well with water and are similar to water in thickness
