Infamy One Shot #1 (Hob)Goblin Chieftain

Recommended Posts

Loving what you did so far.  Its a shame about the glue though on the hobgoblin.  I was thinking of how much he looks like he's a jockey and thought it would be funny to see him painted  up as one - maybe with two or three sponsor marks on him/his shield.  ::D:

If he came in a multi pack, I would likely do that as a joke, but as it is...

He got re primed tonight...

and the Death Chicken got a mouthful of diluted GW Red Ink....

OK now that the SCIENCE! is over, paint!

The Hobgoblin's skin is almost back to where it was, with the base coat of Kalahari Orange, followed by a 50% mix of Kalahari and Mars Oranges, and then a layer of pure Mars Orange.

The eyes were lined with GW Scorched Brown, the whites with a white on the palette, then Marduk Yellow over that with MSP Blue Liner pupils:

The Death Chicken's saddle and straps were done with a layer of 50% Black and Brown Leathers, (Missed the vertical front part of the saddle...

The metalwork got a highlight with GW Shining Gold, then a wash of Agrax Earthshade.

The mouth got some dilute Red ink.

The Teeth and claws were done with Iroku, then Thar Brown, Followed with the Agrax...

Then they both got Dullcoted in case of later glitches... (A virtual surety!)

The goblin got another coat of straight Mars Orange, no pics....

The Death Chicken got Thar Brown, then Mojave White applied to his teeth and claws.

His tongue got some pink flesh high lights.

I tried to paint the scratch marks and other distressed marks in the leather using a mix of Black Leather, Red Leather, and Pink Flesh...

Not sure how well that came out, I think I need a 'paler' color to show the cuts and scratches in the leather. I have to assume that the leather was dyed black, and that the center will be a more flesh tone for the scratches and edge cuts....

I think it made a pretty good color for the scar in its neck as well...

That needs to be glazed back a bit though....

As I have been painting this mini, the 'claws' on the forward parts of his wings have looked odd...

I think that I finally realized that they are not claws!

They are What is left of the long 'finger' bone that should be supporting another web of wing! I guess the outer part made the bird to ungainly on the ground, and may be part of 'clipping' the things wings during it's war training so that it couldn't fly away and needed to develop its legs...

That's my story anyway!

Tonight was the goblins turn, in the little time I had...

Mixed Tenere Yellow with Mars Orange 50% for a high light layer, and then all the skin got glazed with a 50% mix of Kalahari Orange and Mars Orange, cut 1-10 paint to medium/water mix.

Another glaze on the Gob's skin, and I started trying to distress the saddle and cinches with Irouku, and agrax...

And every time I look at him from the front (And the rear) I think of Esther Williams because of the shape and unpainted state of his hat...

Thanks, O Wizard most Mild!

First painting in 2 days,  little too much real life and needed to get the BOGW on the road...

So I did his leather straps in Decay Black, and after really studying the pics and mini, the back parts of his chest armor as well as parts of the greaves. These will match up with the saddle and straps on the Death Chicken...

The armor and shield then got some Thrash Metal, mixed with a tiny bit of Inktensity Black. I think I didn't shake the Thrash enough, because it was very thin...

Need to go look at MMI for more info on Hobgoblin colors for his loin cloth...

The reins and 'stirrups' will be likely a pale grey / off white, as they are made of rope.

I am open to other suggestions though...

Other comments and Critiques welcome!

I also need to start thinking about what kind of base to do... It came with a plain 2" round base...

So got some work done after I shut off the laptop....

Looked in MMI and found Hobgoblins like 'Bloody Colors', so I decided to do his loin cloth in red. I am going to try to keep it a bit purplish, so it doesn't clash to badly with his skin. I used Scale 75 Sunset Purple.

Also touched up the Decay Black, and did his belt and the bag on the right side of his belt.

Finding lots of little details as I go.

There is a little bird skull right next to the bag on his leg, for example...

I mixed some Scale 75 Rainy Grey and Brown Grey and tried to do some high lights on the Death Chicken. (Have to ask Infamy if the thing has a name!)

I took a top down view pic of the mini before I started, and converted to B&W to try and get a sense of what needed to be done...

and after B&W

I think I am going to need more Rainy Grey, or maybe an off white to lighten the color some moar...

I also mixed a little of the Sunset Purple with the greys and went around the scar on the left breast..

then Dullcote over all...

(Have to fix his right elbow to...)

Purple is a good colour on him. He must have Buglips' wardrobe consultant.

I was thinking the same thing.

Signum Workshop is a division of Signum Games company that specializes in the creation of high-quality fantasy miniatures in STL format for self-printing.
Signum Games have been creating and casting fantasy resin miniatures for several years, and our miniatures have a lot of admirers from all over the world. 3D printers are nowadays becoming more and more popular, therefore we decided to join the market and make our miniatures more accessible to you.
The imagination of our artists and modellers have no borders, and sometimes there are just too many new characters (or variations of one character) for us to be able to cast all at once in resin. But we don't want new characters to just gather dust on the hard drive and wait for their time to come. After all, now we finally can share all our new products with you!
All of our miniatures have 32mm scale, which was not a suitable scale for some board games. All our models in files will be pre-assembled and have an option of individual parts.
You can learn all about the quality of our models and to print files simply by clicking on the link and download a free model!
The Signum Workshop project is only at the very beginning of its journey, so we will be happy to see your support, questions, advice, and comments on Patreon!
By supporting us on Patreon, every month you will get access to a new set of STL files of our newest miniatures.
        Dear friends,
this set introduces 4 factions that will appear on our Patreon in the future.
You will meet Plague fighters from the far East, proud warriors from the hot South, harsh warriors from the cold North, and adventurers from the mountains of the West.

A new Kickstarter from Durgin Paint Forge coming late September / early October.
Wasn't a backer of the previous ones, but I don't think there's been any issues.
They've been working away at this one for a while, so most of the minis have already been previewed on their blog.
      Now live:- https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/durginpaintforge/the-elves-of-inneath-32mm-fantasy-miniatures?ref=user_menu

I backed a previous KS these people did and even though it had some struggles due to manufacturers giving them problems, they still delivered and had a good quality product. It's resin and comes either painted or unpainted.
Some of the stuff here is generic, but it's worth a look.
