Both are looking great so far!  I'm really looking forward to seeing them together.  The yellow in the hobgoblin's teeth make him look a bit happy :D  I can't tell from the pics, so please take this with a grain of salt or ten, but you might want to try an armor wash on the helmet to get some of the details to pop a bit more.

Still doing a fantastic job on both of them, George. I've been "liking" and not really commenting because I feel you are on the right track.

Thanks!

That yellow on his teeth and claws is just the first part of the base coat....

Don't worry though, his teeth will look like Ren Hoek's teeth later!

Not for the faint of heart!

So worked on him a bit....

Did the spikes on his leg armor, the bird skull 0n his belt, and the bundle of bones on his left hip with Iroku.

I was going to do the spikes on his back with Iroku as well, but the spikes are all square in cross section, so my interpretation is that they must be metal. They, and the rest of the spikes on his armor, the bird skulls on his shoulders, plus the applique on his helmet, elbow and knee cops, and shield were done with GW Tin Bitz.

His stirrups got a wash, of a brownish color... (The reins and rein ends on the chicken got this too, but I forgot the part in his left hand...

(Not sure what I made it from, but I still have some left in a tiny little dropper bottle...)

His leathers also got a Tom Wise wash...

So tonights work....

The steel armor got high lighted with Heavy Metal, the other with Victorian Brass over the Tin Bitz.

His teeth and claws got some Sahara yellow, and then the teeth got an Agrax Earthshade glaze.

The tail and scraps on his left leg got GW Codex Grey.

Ah the vision is starting to become clear!

I like the mix of gold/brass vs silver/steel based metals  it adds quite a bit of interest to the skanky fellow

Thanks robinh!

If you look at the concept art in the first post, you can see that I am following it to a point with the armor colors...

So, painting on Google Hangouts is FUN!

Talking to people while painting helps get the paint on, is a fast way to show of and get criticism, and you don't have to spend 20 minutes explaining who Buglips is....

(Thanks Guindy!)

Worked on the Chieftain, while nattering away with Guindy and Last Knight, and did this:

post-14271-0-49657100-1464597712_thumb.jpg post-14271-0-57388900-1464597713_thumb.jpg post-14271-0-60793200-1464597714_thumb.jpg post-14271-0-57970800-1464597715_thumb.jpg post-14271-0-59417600-1464597716_thumb.jpg post-14271-0-72312400-1464597717_thumb.jpg post-14271-0-26251000-1464598134_thumb.jpg post-14271-0-89036700-1464598134_thumb.jpg

Started fixing all the oopsies around where his skin meets the leathers or any thing else using Kalahari Orange, then going up the scale with Mars Orange and Mars Orange mixed with Tenere Yellow, followed by a glaze of 50% Kalahari Orange and Mars Orange.

Did some touch ups on the steel armor with Heavy Metal, some more work on the brown leathers, Some White Sands, on the different bones and feathers etc.

Added GW Tin Bitz to part of the lance, as well as Heavy Metal on the steel...

So additional Comments and Critiques welcome!

More work during the binge....

Elven Gold highlights on the Brass, followed by a touch of Speed Metal on the spikes. A few touch ups of Speed Metal here and there, working on the shield straps and armor straps.

Steel armor got a black glaze.

Metals on the lance got some lurve, as did the leather wrapping...

Little bit of White Sands on the bones, fur, and feather.

A new Kickstarter from Durgin Paint Forge coming late September / early October.
Wasn't a backer of the previous ones, but I don't think there's been any issues.

They've been working away at this one for a while, so most of the minis have already been previewed on their blog.

      Now live:- https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/durginpaintforge/the-elves-of-inneath-32mm-fantasy-miniatures?ref=user_menu

I backed a previous KS these people did and even though it had some struggles due to manufacturers giving them problems, they still delivered and had a good quality product. It's resin and comes either painted or unpainted.

Some of the stuff here is generic, but it's worth a look.

Now, I have a pile of unpainted stuff. Time to reduce it by some amount. I got all of these from Bones 4, but I think that the rank and file goblins are from the previous kickstarter.
Since I didn't want to play around with the poses I started experimenting with colour choices. Some classic orange, modern green, royal violet, baby pinks, icy blue and even a grey sorcerer.
      Some other points:
Batch painted (apart from the experiments) NMM (it really teaches you much when you do it for large amounts of figures, I really love Prussian Blue and wet blending really helps in NMM) Experimented with using Vallejo spray paint: it gets somewhat tacky when it dries for a while, but that disappears when you paint over it with acrylic paint.
Overall I like the detail on them, but some poses could be more generic for the rank and file goblins. In my personal the large sabre goblin is the worse of, it is a fun and interesting pose, but it only works for 1 goblin.

Now the photos are not the best (it was getting dark when I got the time to take them. Plus I have yet to make a good photo shoot)

Let us start with Modern Green. The right hand side goblin has one of the better NMM sabres. Currently they have a gloss varnish.

Royal Violets and Baby Pinks: Both violets and pinks work. Sadly the photo for the violets didn't come out well, so you only get a top down shot of them.

I also found an old metal miniature at my local hobby store, so I included them here. If anyone knows where it is from I would appreciate if you could tell me:

Classic Orange: Now my favourite pose from the rank and file goblins is the spear. You can rank them up and they look like a real army! And they have a pose that works for defence, retreat and attack. The photo doesn't really do them justice

Icy Blues and Grey Sorcerer: The sorcerer is a really nice sculpt. He has a nice pet spider on his back. sadly the sun was already pretty low and all other photos didn't come out well.

I painted the spider as a RedBack. See a lot of them here.

Armoured Goblins: they are fun, really like those sculpts. There was another armoured goblin in Bones 4  (I previously posted him). I don't think he really fits in with these as a goblin.
