Mierce Miniatures - Mighty Monsters

Recommended Posts

There is no evidence Rob is using current KS to deliver old projects. It's fine if you have a problem with his business model of using KS, but I've been backing almost every one and in no circumstance has he been anything but professional, far more than more KS creators or even regular retail businesses. Plenty of companies thrive only because of KS, several that are seen more favorably than Mierce here.

Yet more time is spent talking about this stuff than about the actual minis in every Mierce thread.

We get it. It gets old hearing it over and over, though.

Seems like somebody told me quite some time ago that Mierce had a displacer-beast type model coming. Did that ever happen/might it still happen/am I just making this up?

While I appreciate that regular backers of Mierce might be weary of hearing concerns about the companies history and their multi kickstarter business model, folks new to their projects or new to the forums here deserve to know of those concerns just as they deserve to hear the positive views and experiences of their backers. So long as the discourse remains civil and doesn't violate forum rules.

I have only seen them on very select few US Online Retailers...and only a few sculpts at that. No idea on UK stores.

UK online sellers don't give nearly the degree of discount you see in the US  generally 10% or nothing (except for GW where you can regularly get 20% off the prereleases)

but you can pick up Mierce from some of the UK online stores (eg element games)

There's not that much of a saving on the KS for some items.

Typhaaggahw, Gwyfern of Ceredigion - £56.99 rrp £59.99 on Mierce website - £52 on KS rrp £69.99 with £3.00 shipping saving £2.00.

Is the KS is giving a false rrp price to make it look like you are saving more than you are??

Edit - Mierce answered my question looks like a price increase is on the cards as he will be rrp £69.99 soon

Typhaaggahw, Gwyfern of Ceredigion - (...)

Sorry, I read that as "Typoerror, qwerty of toungetwister".

I hope this is based on Welsh/Celtic/gaelic/whatever writing/pronunciation rules and not just some writers' fancy.

Wish I knew how to pronounce those names.

Or even if they are/could be actual welsh names and not simply pretentious tat.

The names are based on some language.  I just forget which.

And...oh yes for Banbreca!!!  And Rob has teased Tower Banbreca.

I have no problem with paying for something I'll get in a year. But I have a problem backing a project when the creator has 6 projects that have not completely been fulfilled. I also have a problem when I get the impression that regular Kickstarters are the only thing that keeps a company that should be an established company by now running. It looks like the new Kickstarter is also meant to finance fulfilling the old ones.

That's largely my concern.

I backed the previous Kickstarter (my first Mierce project), but I will probably wait for that to fulfill in 6-10 months before I back anything else.

Retail is an option, if I want to paint up something else in the mean time.

Yeah.  Mierce had its image damaged by the way the old retail company fell apart.  While some people definitely got screwed over by that whole deal, we didn't end up with real evidence that they handled it wrong.  Obviously, some of his major competitors thought he was doing some illegal stuff, but the accusations didn't stick legally.

Now, using new KS funds to fulfill old projects... that's a business practice that's been around for a good long while outside of KS.  It isn't illegal, and it is hard to say what evidence would exist

Hard to believe but Mierce have their next project up and running.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mierceminiatures/darklands-mighty-monsters?ref=nav_search

Why is it hard to believe?

Because I'm waiting on products from 7 unfinished Mierce kickstarters

Yeah, six unfulfilled projects raises red flags for me.

But it isn't an issue on my end:  I love Mierce minis, but they don't do the sort of Kickstarters I tend to back.  I just pick up their minis at retail one at a time.

We have our own professional Mail Order facilities, and have completed on over a dozen Kickstarters, for TAG, and for many other small scale mini retailers here in the UK.

The Grand Duchy of Reme awaits!
Starting in 2002 Necromancer Games began populating its Lost Lands campaign setting one adventure at a time. The Grand Duchy of Reme is the region home to classic adventures released by Necromancer Games for D20/3.x and Frog God Games for Pathfinder, Swords & Wizardry and Fifth Edition.
More than 10 adventures have brought life to the Grand Duchy of Reme. The Lost Lands Campaign Sourcebook funded in January is expected to be over 700 pages and all of them are full of information. By necessity each region was described broadly, but there are still a wealth of history, politics and other details to be explored, experience and expanded in the Grand Duchy of Reme.
The Grand Duchy of Reme is a system neutral hardcover volume designed to be useful for campaigns independent of system preference. Specific details that affect the characters in the Lost Lands there are System Encounter Books. These companion volumes are softcover (or PDF), that contain reference stats for use with the Region book along with detailed encounter tables for the region.
Additionally, 3 classic adventures previously unavailable for Pathfinder, Swords & Wizardry, and Fifth Edition are back. These are offered as either softcover add-ons in backerkit or as free stretch goals in PDF (see reward sidebar).
Mock-up of Grand Duchy of Reme. Final release will differ slightly The city of Reme itself is ancient, with world-spanning trade — the eternal citadel of the Loreclans, where the ashes of legendary barbarian kings reside. This land lies near the slow collapse of the nearby Empire of Foere, and the rise of Bard’s Gate to the East. The Rhemish watch these events with cold eyes rather than concern, for they live in vast regions that devour invaders. Their land is eternal; their people can be forced back to the plains, but in the plains they can abide for as long as need be. They are — as a people — the ultimate hunters. The fall of Foere is like the fall of an antelope upon the plains; the rise of Bard’s Gate is little more than the stepping-up of jackals before the body. The Grand Duchy of Reme simply waits and watches — for Reme is the dwelling-place of the world’s wolves.
Reme is a unique fantasy civilization whose structure is determined by the one overriding fact of its geography — the country is a vast, grassland plain. The realm is dominated by the culture of the ancient Loreclans: the urbanized and settled ones, and the nomadic clans of the interior. The Loreclans owe a certain fealty to the Dukes of Reme, who are the final arbiters of the ancient law of the plains, but between the Loreclans and the Dukes there are also the mysterious Pashtars: arbiters, judges, and mediators who roam the plains where their service takes them.
The city of Reme, of course, is one of the wonders of the world of the Lost Lands, home of powerful spell-casters and perhaps the greatest mercantile and war fleets of the Crescent Sea. It is also, however, steeped in the culture of the vast plains of the interior. It is a place where assumptions are dangerous, for it is no standard fantasy environment — it is a culture that will be entirely new and foreign to your players, a place to truly explore as well as adventure.
