Bombshell Babes 10037 - Serina the Steampunk Mermaid

Looking forwards to it! Planning anything special for the base?

Sand, ripples, light passing through waves, maybe a few starfish.

Looking good so far!  I picked her up a while ago, she really is a cool model.  I'll have to live vicariously through you until I can get to her.   I like your ideas for her base.

I've done a bit more work, slowly, between other projects.

I smoothed out the yellows and painted her face.

A month later I gave her more silvery highlights.

A month after that I thought no, dang it, I want her to be really golden. I glazed her all over with Hansa Yellow Light (which is a regular Golden paint, not a matte fluid acrylic, which I used because it is transparent).

Speaking of slowly, I'm back to her!

I made a soft mauve from Ultramarine Blue, a tiny dab of Phthalocyanine Blue, Quinacridone Crimson and Titanium White and painted her blouse (using a bluer mix for shadows and a pinker mix for highlights).

And I slathered some copper metallic paint on her goggles, telescope, and gun, and silver on her armor. Normally I do a colored underpainting but I have taken so long to get to this and I am curious to see how it will work this way.

So you are working on a remake of the little mermaid? I really like that idea.

Put in some steampunk theme, crime, action and (of course) some HBO speciality, mix it - et voilá: Mermaid S.I. (Submarine Investigator).

Starring:

Ariel, the younger sister of Arielle and a selfmade private investigator

Sebastian, a crab and estate manager of Triton's Nest, an estate next to the Mariana Trench. He is know for having two sea lions, called Claus and Angelo

Fabius, a former military dolphin who now runs a bar called "the black smoker"

"Prince", a SEAL (play of words, yes) who is introduced as love interest for Ariel

Oh, boy. I that would be soooo great!

//

But afar from that. I like her face. Great work. Keep it up.

Presenting the Scarab Mummy, a minion for the Egyptian faction in the game Twisted, he's a mummy that's been redesigned to have a more pleasing beetle theme (which I guess technically makes him more of a Flesh Golem).

Had a lot of fun with this one, I'm still pretty bad at painting gems but I think I'm getting better.

Well, I've gone and done it. I got a YouTube channel and have started making a series of videos on matters of paint and painting.

Okay, I say "series of videos" all grandly, but at the moment it's one video and a planned syllabus. But I have more planned!

This is pretty much my first video ever. I was helped a great deal by my family members who have more experience in this.

The first video is a paint comparison, looking at one of the new Liquitex Acrylic Gouache paints (Quinacridone Magenta, PR122) and considering its suitability for miniatures painting.

      Enjoy!

This is the Reaper Bones 77371 Basilisk sculpted by Julie Guthrie. It's quite small - about the size of a large dog, with a wonderfully grouchy visage.

I painted it up fairly quickly to illustrate a video about how yellow and black can be mixed to make greens. This was an example of the less vivid greens (For a really vivid yellow-and-black green, see my She-Hulk Show-Off thread). All the colors on the critter were mixed just from yellow (mostly Yellow Ochre, but also a little Hansa Yellow), black, and white.

The video is here, if anyone cares to watch it.
