I'm at my wits end on this one!!! Every time I try to connect my my Canon S50 camera I have to reinstall it. I'm using XP and the canon utilities for this. Is there and words of wisdom for this novice?

It's a newer one. According to the official website should be no problem. After doing everything they suggest. Still no glory, sent off a trouble report so will see what they have to say. I hate all this combatibilty stuff.

Agreed compatibility issues suck.

Had that with my Printer after I installed XP and thankfully it was a simple endeavor to fix it. But that is not always the case. The most recent Ex BF had huge compatibility issues with his computer after he tried installing a SCSI drive and upgrading to XP. After a week of messing around with it he gave up and sent it off to the professionals at the computer repair shop. His computer happens to be older than mine, which is something I consider a real feat.

Thanks for the replies!! I am connecting via USB and according to Canon there is an issue with XP reconizing both USB Cameras and Scanners at the same time. One lesson learned for the masses ::D:

The Canon rep was quick to respond once I gave a system description and also gave this message from windows http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;en-us;Q324756

<keeping my thoughts about paying for beta testing quiet>

Hopefully this info will help others in the future and one day my scanner and camera can meet happily in the OS.
