May 2016 Hobby/Paint Goals

Recommended Posts

Now that my light bulbs have arrived I suppose I should make some real goals.

  • Finish test subject Juliette.  Well that was quick.
  • Select the next test subject since there are some additional tweaks I'd like to try to Juliette's formula.
  • Realistically, there will probably be yet another mini to iron out the formula.
  • Clean the nice mini. Pretty well done while I waited on the bulbs.
  • Figure out a base for the main attraction.

So far for May, I have spent more time taking my paint supplies on and off the table than actually painting.  A small bit of yellow touched my Koba figure.  It just hasn't been a month for painting.

I have the weekend to myself, my wife is out of town visiting her brother, SiL, and their kiddos. So this means I break out my paints from travel containers (as we are selling our house and moving soon), hopefully I can get a couple projects finished up. Looking at the vignette of Lenore vs. Shimmer as my #1 priority.

Haven't done one in a while. But let's have a go:

1) Paint on the Savannah at least twice a week. Er...

2) IMEF Sargent, Nick Stone He's got eyes now...

3) Danar, Assassin He can see as well...

4) One video on painting (have no figure targeted yet; might be one of the above). Started, using the 3D printed orc I've got...

5) Solidify a ReaperCon figure plan Hahahaha....

6) Fully sketch out a custom CAV to build up Looks like I get a full version of Creo 4 (full-blown aerospace CAD) for two month trial in June, so this one is getting some attention...

Put in some painting today, so updated in red.

My goal has been easing my way back into my hobbies, working on a car model kit that I've had in the TO DO pile for quite awhile, even with a replacement parts order from Germany included. I figured it'll take me till June sometime to fully complete it & I hope to get back into minis after that! Oddly I may finish before the end of this month. All I have to do paint the body interior black, slap the remaining body decals (it's a racecar), windows (prob will take the longest, hate windows ha ha) & final assemblies.

I do have a Ruined Church paper model from Dave Graffam that I'd like to work on. Probably the biggest paper model I've got to do for my ReaperCon games. I'll try to do a WiP on here for that one.

  • Clean the nice mini. Pretty well done while I waited on the bulbs.

I did get my testing done and a few minis painted, but in the end I haven't ever been able to decide on a full paint scheme to go along with the dark red. I do kind of have an idea for a base, but haven't purchased anything to make it so.

I suppose adding another shade of red to my arsenal is an accomplishment in and of itself. Final tally: 3 minis painted red and 1 resin mini cleaned.

So... none of my goals were accomplished. Go me!

My goal is not really hobby related, but I have some work to finish on a laundry room I'm expanding in my house.  After that, it's clean up my paint area, so I can actually paint again.  Hopefully that will be done in may.

If I get something done, I hope to paint 2-5 minis this month.  Probably a H&F Dwarf or two, or more Pathfinder Bones minis.

I have many irons in the fire right now.

So, my update is simple:

I painted Bella: Succubus and started on my Reaper quarterly challenge (base coats & beginning highlighting.

MAYBE I'll get a smaller mini finished (tomorrow, I'm wiped right now).

Laundry room progress was very good this month (much more done than expected)  It's back to siding starting in a couple of weeks (ugh).  Starting to look like my house is becoming a place people live, rather than just tolerate.

Work on my Dragon for Reapercon.  It doesn't have to be finished but I should be somewhere in the adding highlights or deepening shadows area.

and the scenic base should be constructed, and moving towards the final stages.

meeting the painting challenge goals of 5 other figures.

Bones 2 faerie with wings, dwarf with 2-handed sword and cool helmet, chess-piece paladin

Bones 1: Devona this time painted as wizard.

painting at least one from either "Heronies in Sensible Shoes" or Stonehaven's Halflings. both scheduled arrivals? for May.

Finalize my reaper KS3 pledge.

1. Dragon - nope, but his wings look better, little progress on basing.

2. selected figures from bones - Yes,all four done.

3. no new KS figures were painted, Sensible shoes were received, but no halflings.

4. I added DVD, 2 dragons and a frogmoth.  I'm done, really.

5. go nuts for the paint binge - painted 5 (mostly skeletons) start to finish, came close on 2 more.

April was definitely a crazy month for me too! Here's to time in May for hobbies!

- Finish sculpting big deer for my mother-in-law (in time for Mother's Day) ahhhhhhh..... Large figures are really difficult. I got a lot of progress, but they aren't done.

- Sculpt some small items for the Box of Goodwill Eaten by cats... Going to try again in June.

- Sew a dress for summer! Hello month of June....

- Complete lesson 3 of my art class I completed the 2 challenges, but did not finish Lesson 3 out of frustration. I'll be trying to tackle it again in June.

- Artist Trading Card Completed!

- Paint a military babe and a silly space pug for my brother-in-law's birthday (first week of June) Completed the pug! We decided on a second gift for him, so the babe is primed and saved for a later date.
