Some sloppy assembly and lots of slopped glue on some of mine, but I figure that's pretty usual for Chinese assembly these days. I was surprised by the size of the tray of big'uns.

Yeah... that one tray is amazing.  There's some other good bits and stuff, but that tray...

I popped out the chests last night and was going to clean them... pretty awesome that I couldn't find any noticeable mold lines.  I did notice some of the figures have very thin bits that are going to be challenging.

Played the tutorial and started the first mission today, really digging it. First mission I'm playing as the barbarian and paladin, super tanky but tough to get damage out (I've been getting boned on weapon draws, plus I tend to play tanky anyway). Mobs aren't too bad yet but the wandering monsters and agents can get rough. When we were level one, drew a demon with a fire sword (he was shredding our defenses) and then at level 2 we got an ogre with a shield (we could barely damage him, and that mostly with bonus damage from skills).

Good to hear. I have been seeing a lot of negative game play comments online. I pledged for the mini value, but hope the game is decent as I think it would be a welcome addition to the boardgame group I game with monthly.

I found this rather thorough review. Does it match the experiences of those here?

I think it overdoes the complaints, just compare some of them

it's too easy because you get too much loot (assuming you clear out everything and 'bob' doesn't go charging on ahead by himself)

it can be too hard if the wrong wandering monster spawns (I though they said it was too easy.....)

not enough variety in enemies (this I suspect will be for an expansion KS, more would indeed be good but we did get a lot especially if you got the expansions) and he'd like traps (me to they'd be fun)

loot not scaling in campaign mode (well you did say there was too much...) and players can carry multiple helmets etc (a fair point but one that many rpgs and dungeon crawlers do, telling players they have to dump a helm of beast control if they want to grab the helm of protection from undead often goes down really badly and there's whole rafts of kit designed to allow them to keep both from bags of holding, to shrinking stuff to followers to pack animals so I'll give them a pass on that)

I'd probably give it an 8 unless your group is one that always sticks together, cooperates properly and tries to play the perfect game in which case his rating may well be closer to if for you

one plus he doesn't address on his list is that it's simple enough that most should be able to set up their own missions using tiles, rooms etc i'm sure a bunch of us have hanging about from other games (all you need is some 'light' and 'dark' counters if they stuff you're using doesn't have any in built variety)
