Mouse Warrior (DSM7956) WIP

I have been working on this mini for over a week.  Glue-up was a pain in the elf.

I am working on solving that problem.  It is finally pinned, primed, and covered with bown liner.

I tend to use the brown liner as a discovery process.  I find all the little interesting details in the

miniature with that brown liner.  The little leather pouch on his belt, has a cats face carved into it.

I will try to find some way to display that. 

I tend towards being photo heavy, and I will try to document what I am doing (If I know).  I have no idea what direction

this mouse is going to go, except that right now he has pink ears, and will probably be a gray mouse.

Once I get painting, all bets are off, I don't use anyone else's painting to copy, and I mix my own colors. 

 

So here I begin to paint the Mouse Warrior. 

Note that most of the broccoli base has been removed.

I left the area around the tail, since it is to fragile to survive without the support.

Off to a great start!

Didn't get as much time as I would have liked today.

Was invited out to lunch by my former office mate.

We struggle to meet up, and then there is the mad catch up of what is happening.

We became good friends by being office mates for four years. 

 

So I have been putting in the fur on the Mouse with tude.

He's teaching me what he wants to look like.  Its like observing a painting emerge

from a canvas.  Light, shadow, darker, midtone, put the dark back in, mid-tone.  Once the eye is complete I'll have a complete picture in my head of where I am going, and what colors to use.

I painted the Highlands Cat Warrior from DS as a certain orange & black tabby cat....

 

Nice work. I've always liked this guy. Nice to see a different take on him as I've only ever seen the studio paint job (albino rat)

I can assure you that my mini will look like NOTHING that the albino rat looks like.  I actually went and looked at it.

Its impressive; but NOT my thing.

I'm a bit more whimsical, and I want to have fun painting these things.

I'll attempt to have the skill, but I will MOST seriously have a fun time painting this Mini a bit more comical !

Now that yesterday's celebrations are completed, I finally got back on course with the Mouse Warrior.

I've been dry brushing fur, putting in shadows again, and basically pulling him into recognition.

So we have a gray mouse, with pink, and gray ears, pink nose, and tail.  He at the moment has a reddish shield,

which will got brownish with glazing.  I'm thinking of ancient bronze metal around shield with some freehand.

Think it is time to play again with some colored armor on him.  Want to do something different with the eye patch, and

straps.  All that fun stuff waiting to be done.. Whooo whoo!

My photos are at 48K each, think most can handle that.

Seems that since my birthday has passed I am now GRAY matter (chuckle).

I'll take the quiet and use it to my advantage.

Here is the Mouse Warrior moving further along.  I haven't really started doing any magic on him.

Trying to get to a place where I can evaluate what I have going on.

I DO like where he is at now. 

All my photos are about 50K, so shouldn't tax anyones system.

Nice touch on the eye and orange satchel and belt!  I think they eye patch, as it currently is, blends into the head way to much!   Maybe make it a bit of bright pling!  Say silver or gold silk cloth!

I'm actually thinking they eye patch needs to be black, and the straps need to be red..

Going to play with that :)

Glad to know that you like what I am doing so far.

Just ponging in colors at this rate.
